If you’ve been on our site for any number of years, A. thank you mom and B. you know that we love Monster Jam. Monster Jam is coming back to Atlanta at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 22 and 23. If you’ve been in Monster Jam before then you know how incredibly entertaining and absolutely family friendly it is. For our family, Monster Jam is one of the highlights for the year. It’s entertaining and is a sport that sucks you in from the get-go. It has all the energy of any huge sporting event that you’ve been to, but it’s paired with huge trucks jumping over dirt barriers.

The Monster Jam competition is simple to grasp once you’re there. Essentially the competition is broken up into two parts and any feasible question that you’d have about Monster Jam, including the famous Pit Party, can be answered here.

This giveaway is for a family 4-pack of tickets to the Saturday, February 22, 2020 show at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The show starts at 7:00, but get there early, especially if you want to go to the Pit Party. The winner for this Monster Jam giveaway will be drawn on February 10, 2020 at 7:00 PM ET. For our family one thing that indicates the final days of winter is Monster Jam. It’s not set in stone, but for the past couple of years Monster Jam has been in Atlanta in late February. And since our children are nine and seven-and can only remember a couple of years back, they associate Monster Jam with that, as well as giant trucks smashing stuff, doing flips, endoes, wheelies, pogoing, dropping the hammer and more. Monster Jam has become one of our go-to family friendly events that we look forward to every year. This year Monster Jam is coming to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on February 23 and 24th. Is Monster Jam a family friendly experience? Yes. It’s loud (wear ear protection-or come early enough to where you can purchase some at the stadium), so come prepared. Be sure to come early so that the kids can enjoy the benefits of the Pit Pass. That’s when you can walk the course, get close to the monster trucks, meet the drivers, do some crafts or purchase any number of cool Monster Jam toys. There is absolutely nothing to worry about for kids (content wise) at a Monster Jam event.

This is 100% adrenaline and you don’t need to know anything about how the sport works. Essentially, a Monster Jam event is divided into two portions. The first half is a race where two trucks to head to head in a timed event. The second half is where the winners of that first heat move on to free style action. Monster Jam never disappoints us and I can guarantee that it’ll be one of the family highlights in 2019.

An interview with Monster Jam legend, Jim Koehler

You’ve heard the radio commercials, seen them on television and watched countless parodies-including our favorite, “Bart the Daredevil” from episode 8, season 2 of The Simpsons. Monster Jam is a ritual in our house and we were pumped to interview Jim Koehler. Koehler drives Avenger, is part of Team Scream and is a legend in the Monster Jam circuit. He’s been competing since 1997, loves to drive on two wheels and is a class act, as you’ll hear in the interview.

What is Monster Jam? What changes have been made since last year? What’s his favorite part of the race? If you’re a Monster Jam novice this interview will answer all of those questions. Monster Jam is one of the best family night outs that you will experience. What child does not want to see larger than life trucks jumping over dirt mounds, doing flips or racing around a course an unimaginable torque levels? Plus, torque, it’s a chance to teach school age children about torque and how it makes the trucks accelerate so quickly. We spoke with Kelvin Ramer and Rosalee Ramer, two drivers on the Monster Jam circuit, who also happen to be father/daughter.

Rosalee Ramer is in her second season and was the rookie of the year in 2016. Kelvin Ramer has been driving Monster Trucks for 14 years and their story is really one of talent and family.

Did you see Rosalee when she was on The Ellen Show? Ellen’s reaction after she saw Rosalee do a Monster Truck demonstration in the parking lot is how you’ll walk away if you’ve never seen Monster Jam in person. After seeing it once you will have an enthusiastic reaction every time you hear the vehicle start, spin out and be sure to have your camera on video just in case you’re lucky enough to see one flip.

In 2016 we were blown away by one of the most family friendly events we’ve ever attended. Monster Jam is back in Atlanta on February 4 and 5 and we’ve been looking forward to it ever since we left the arena last year. For us, Monster Jam was the graphic novel that we were casually interested in that we couldn’t put down-and then immediately re-read it once we were finished.  Monster Jam will most likely have the same reaction for you and your family.

Monster Jam is a live motorsport event that’s operated by Feld Entertainment. There is more to Monster Jam than you might realize. It’s broken up into two parts. The first is a competition, where two trucks go head-to-head on a short track. They’ll do two laps of the course and the winner will then go on to face the next field of wining trucks. Eventually the fastest two trucks will face each other and the results will make ages 5 and up yell, scream and be enthusiastic beyond your wildest dreams.

That was our then 6YO, a normally reserved child who was waving his hands, yelling and shouting cheers of enthusiasm for whichever truck he liked during that round of competition. As a parent it was amazing to see this side of my child, who I thought I knew inside and out being more boisterous than we’d ever seen him. It was all for good reason because we were doing the same thing and perhaps the apple was not falling far from the tree.

The crowd at Monster Jam is diverse in background and age. Having said that, bring ear protection with you. If you arrive in time they sell ear protection, but it does sell out. We’re buying ear protection before this year’s Monster Jam, because we know we’ll be back for more.

Monster Jam is a family must-see, back in Atlanta on Jan 14

Who would have thought that my mind’s rolodex would have our visit to Monster Jam as one of the best family memories of the year? Prior to going to Monster Jam it wasn’t us for sure. However, if your family has ever been to Monster Jam it’s likely that you agree with us and have been counting down to when it comes back to your area.

Monster Jam consists of a race, as well as a freestyle competition with trucks on massive wheels jumping and even flipping themselves to the delight of tens of thousands of fans.

Our oldest nor I knew anything about Monster Jam before going. Granted the title and premise of the event is enough to tantalize the imagination of a six year old (and myself), but we weren’t expecting entertainment on such a huge scale.

Saturday, Saturday, Saturday. Insert a day of the week, say it three times in your announcer voice and people immediately know what you’re talking about. Monster Jam. Our kids are somewhat older so we can finally start introducing them to the pleasures of large trucks with big wheels getting massive air from dirt jumps. Monster Jam is pure Americana family fun. It’s for everyone, will leave the kids pumped up and breathless, but there some things that families need to know before visiting.
