Patema Inverted is original, mind bending anime for fans of the genre

The plot for Patema Inverted takes a moment to digest.  It’s the story of two teens who live on opposite gravities on the same planet.  Patema is a princess and lives underground in an industrial area while Age lives on the surface and is part of a totalitarian society.   So far, so good, right?  But here’s where it gets tricky.

Best Buy and the Intel Experience Zone-access to inspiration #Ad

We were compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free.  All thoughts are our own.  Technology is awesome.  Technology can also be super confusing.  Because of that Intel and Best Buy have teamed up to bring the new Intel Experience Zone to 50 Best Buy stores throughout the U.S.

Life’s Good with the LG selection at Walmart and NCAA Football #Ad

Dig this, it’s a sponsored by Lunchbox about #LGCFB and NCAA Football.  All opinions are my own.   Before moving to Georgia I was a East Carolina Pirate.  In my four years there (yes, 4 years-graduated on time baby!) I only missed a couple of football games.  They were all great fun and introduced me into the world of NCAA Football.  Since then I’ve realized that if you can’t be there in person you at least want to be watching the game on a great LG television, probably bought at Walmart for a great price.

Welcome to the Space Show, big scale, grand visions, too long

Welcome to the Space Show is a Japanese anime science fiction film that is appropriate for all ages.   It’s anime, set against a science fiction story that has massive visions and almost gets there, almost.  Welcome to the Space Show has some of the most gorgeous animation that I’ve ever seen.  For a solid hour every scene has something fascinating, new and wondrous on it.   Even outside of that hour the film is visually stunning, but there are a couple elements that keep me from really recommending it.

The Simpsons Family History: Aye carumba this is awesome

The Simpsons Family History: A Celebration of Television’s Favorite Family is not what I expected but I am 100% OK with that.  I expected a blow by blow account of how each episode is made and some photos from the animators and voice over artists doing their craft.  In reality the book is soup to nuts how Marge and Homer met, fell in love, had kids and found Santa’s Little Helper. It features art that is taken from the source that reminds viewers of the art that is at the root of the longest-running American sitcom, longest-running animated series and longest- running primetime scripted series.

Dad Spends a Night in the Mancave: The Protector 2 review

Here at Daddy Mojo we get some unsolicited products that we don’t review.  We don’t review them because it would take time and if they’re not paying then it’s a waste of my time.  We’ll pass them a note, saying it’s not a good fit or have some improvements they could make to the product. With our wife out of town we settled in for a movie.  The reviews on The Protector 2 weren’t kind, but it’s Tony Jaa, it can’t be that bad.  This review of The Protector 2 is more of a warning that a review.  Consider yourself warned. August Audio Fest is this month at Best Buy #Ad

Back in the day I had massive 4’ speakers.  There were four of them and they were not cheap.  But, as a guy who worked in radio, I needed to have sound that was big.  This in no way was trying to compensate for a Napoleonic Complex, it was all work related-really.  Now CDs are all but dead and cassettes are just a toy for children to unwind; while LPs and streaming services are cool.   This month Best Buy is having August Audio Month, a chance to solve all your audio issues, special pricing, events and lots more.

Aerial America: Southwest Collection-armchair travel & more

Smithsonian Channel Aerial America: Southwest Collection takes five of the programs that aired on the Smithsonian Channel and puts them on Blu-ray.  Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Colorado are featured in this DVD.  It is presented in full widescreen with an aspect ratio of 16 x 9 and 5.1 digital surround sound.  I’m no audiophile, but all that adds up to a gorgeous picture and immersive sound.
