The Center for Puppetry Arts renovation can be felt worldwide

The Center for Puppetry Arts has always been a fun place to see a puppet show, but it had never been much of a destination. Sure, you loved the puppet shows and then went upstairs to make your own, but that was probably the extent of your visit. The facility at The Center for Puppetry Arts has just reopened after a massive addition to its facility, as well as, refurbishing most of the existing structure. Its results are nothing short of a shift in the Atlanta “must visit” list that locals will produce.

From the moment you enter the newly remodeled facility you know that it’s something special. The Worlds of Puppetry Museum has two wings, a Jim Henson exhibit and a Global Collection that showcases puppets from every corner of the globe.

A child’s dinner and dad eating Denny’s Fit Fare

We’re a Denny’s Ambassador and were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own.   October is a manic month in our house populated with four family birthdays, countless fall festivals and our own personal need to relax. Jake just turned 6 and he loves Denny’s. He calls the one in our area the ‘castle Denny’s’ because it looks like a log cabin inside. For his birthday meal he called the shots and he said he wanted to go to the castle Denny’s.

This place has memories for us. It’s one of the first public places that his younger brother, Charlie, used the toilet. That was a big step for him and we celebrated that day by getting a big fudge brownie with ice cream; although it’s entirely possible I would’ve ordered that anyway.

When we got there for the special birthday trip the kids were excited, sat down and asked which animal cups were available. It’s their thing-cups with animals in the bottom of it. When they outgrow this phase a little part of me will be very sad. They then looked for the kid’s menu, started coloring, doing the crafts and imagining what they’d eat.

What to expect from Dragon Con in Atlanta

Dragon Con is the largest pop culture convention in the U.S. that focuses on sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, comics, music, art and film. That’s quite the boiler plate copy, but it’s true. Dragon Con is more than a place to catch presentations from the cast of Arrow. There are literally hundreds of break- out sessions that are geared to exactly what interests you in the pop culture world.  And the cosplay-wow, it’s not required that you come in costume, but thousands of people wear them and they’re really something to marvel. The parade on Saturday morning is one of the highlights of the weekend.

Enter National Park Service free on 8/25 #FindYourPark

We’re big fans of getting outside. The kids like to hike, but still complain on the uphill parts and try to go too quickly when they go down. One thing about getting outside is that it is a parenting win. Everyone gets exercise, they burn off some sillies and mom/dad can get refreshed. To celebrate the 99th birthday of the National Park Service they’re waiving all entry fees into their parks on 8/25/15.

Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader board game review

Hey there, we received a copy of the game for review purposes, all thoughts are our own. My wife and I have game night in the house. Sometimes it’s chess, really, occasionally we’ll play chess, it’s not just some snooty thing I’m saying to increase my SAT score. Recently we played the Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader board game. While it took us a couple of games to find our footing, it’s a fun game that anyone eight and older can play with ease and enjoy.

It’s a # LEGO Ninjago Weekend, Aug 15-16 at Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta

If you have children between the ages of 3-10 Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta is one of the must-visit places in Atlanta. We were skeptical of our younger children going there, but there is a large DUPLO area, an even bigger block pit and a big area play structure where they can climb, run and get their silly’s out.  Every time we go there we easily spend three hours with the kids wanting to stay longer and them sleeping very well that night. On Augusts 15 and 16 Legoland is having an event highlighting Ninjago Airjitzu Flyers.
