The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom slays sophomore curse

The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom takes the absurd happenings of The First Cat in Space Ate Pizza, keeps running and picks up speed. The Batman 1966 vibes in this all-age graphic novel series continue in this second book and are more established. By looking at the back cover it baits audiences by telling them that they’ll see First Cat, Moon Queen, and Loz 4000 again, but teases them by showing snippets of the action inside the book, a la, The Wild, Wild West as they went to commercials. This is a graphic novel that wallows in the excitement and giddy energy that mid-elementary through lower middle-school students can bring to a book when it’s one whets their appetite.

The First Cat in Space and the Soup of Doom is the second in this intelligent and absurd graphic novel series that lays waste to the sophomore slump.

Cat Ninja: Welcome to the ‘Burbs, all-age graphic novel action early elementary

Cat Ninja is an elementary-aged graphic novel series that runs with glee towards ages eight and up, all but taunting them not to read it. Welcome to the ‘Burbs is the fourth entry into the Cat Ninja world and is as much fun as one would expect from a graphic novel that’s brave enough to be called that.

Seriously, think of four things that eight-year-olds enjoy or want to talk about and it’s guaranteed that two of them are ninjas and cats. It’s a reluctant reader’s paradise if you’re able to make a book or graphic novel about ninja cats, or in this case, Cat Ninja.

Cat Ninja: Welcome to the ‘Burbs is the fourth book in the all-age graphic novel series that will have grades two through five feline fine.

Investigators Take The Plunge, seriously (p)funny stuff for 8 and up

Have you ever been to an incredible restaurant, but then hesitated to go back? You think that it surely can’t be as good as the first time; they probably changed chefs or the servers have all become surly jerks who doing something on Tik Tok with your food. You want to try something new from the place, but have reservations because things let you down. I was like that with Investigators, which was the first book in the graphic novel series by John Patrick Green. The second book in the series, Investigators Take the Plunge does not disappoint. It doesn’t go all Empire Strikes Back on audiences, but it introduces some new characters and produces almost the same amount of laughs.

All age comic books for June 24

It appears that the comic book deliveries are back on course, with a few changes. We spoke to our local comic book store and they said that the ones from DC Comics will be arriving on Tuesday. All of the other books and graphic novels will be arriving on Wednesday. Of course, check with your local comic book store to confirm their schedule, as well, as opening hours during these times.

Having said all of that, this is an excellent week for all age comic books and graphic novels. It’s obvious that there were many graphic novels that were delayed and are now hitting shelves at the same time. Comic book publishers tried to avoid that from happening with success, even though it meant no product coming out for two months.

For elementary aged readers they have Pizza and Taco: Who’s The Best?. There are also a couple of Disney graphic novels and Star Wars Adventures, which will be great for ages 6 and up.

Middle, high school readers and up who are looking for something left of center should check out Transformers and The Terminator mini-series.

Check out the entire list, because there are multiple all age comic books for readers 6 and up. Call ahead to your local shop to confirm the delivery date.
