A look at Transformers Age of Extinction toys for small children

Our kids are getting older, as they do, and some of the brands and toys that I grew up with are entering their radar. The eldest is 4 and while he’s too young to watch the Transformers movies, he’s good-to-go on some of the toys and knows a bit about them from Transformers Rescue Bots.  With Transformers Age of Extinction coming out there is a slew of new toys coming out, here’s a look at some that are good for younger children.

Baby Einstein Ocean Exploration Play Pad: great quality, but too loud

We love us some Baby Einstein in this house.  When our oldest was first born we stocked up on anything Baby Einstein that we could find at a certain price point.  Some of it came from garage sales and some new from the stores, depending on what it was.  The Ocean Exploration Play Pad from Baby Einstein combines elements of previous activities for babies.  It’s a great interactive learning tool that’s missing one key thing-a volume switch.

Brachiosaurus Backhoe from Dino Construction Company-durable, creative fun

Children love dinosaurs.  Children love construction vehicles.  A dinosaur construction vehicle is such a natural fit one wonders why a durable one for small hands isn’t in every sand box.  Sure The Transformers have vehicles, but they’re more imagination play and not dig in the dirt, move sticks stuff for small children.  Dino Construction Company has a lineup of vehicles that look like dinosaurs or vice versa depending on your allegiance.

The Bigs, a story young professionals (& more) can learn from

The Bigs by Ben Carpenter is a hybrid book of sorts.  It’s the story of Carpenter’s career from college to CEO of an investment company.  But more than that it’s the story of the people that he met along the way, both good and bad that taught him things about life.

The Metra diaper bag from JJ Cole Collections review

You know you’re in for some quality when a diaper bag is part of a collection.  The Metra diaper bag from JJ Cole Collection is all quality, packed with pockets and has a long enough strap to easily slip over your head and around your shoulder.  That’s the way cool dads wear the diaper bag.  It looks like they’re a bike messenger except you’re delivering diapers, wipes or snacks for irritated small people.

Thingy Things by Chris Raschka are offbeat fun that toddlers will love

My wife and I had the sing song discussion prior to having children.  That discussion was essentially that we would not ‘baby talk’ to our kids.  The Thingy Things book series by Chris Raschka may seem like a very basic, baby style book based on its cover.  However, as the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover.   These books are creative, goofy stories about animals-all the while using bigger vocabulary that your child can understand, but may not have seen in books yet.

Family pizza night tips with Pillsbury Pizza Crust #PBPizzaNight

We do family pizza night at least once a week.  Personally I’ll do pizza up to 3 times a week, but don’t tell my wife.  However, every Friday I cook pizza for the boys.  We usually buy the pre rolled pizza dough in the plastic container at the grocery store.  However, recently I got an email* by Mr. Poppin’ Fresh himself, letting me know that the Pillsbury Pizza Crust is new to the market.

I used to love choose your own adventure books. I read a lot and books where you seemed to be in charge of your own destiny were an escape.
