Little Pim review: an entertaining way to teach language

I speak enough of a couple languages to be a good tourist.  None of them are fluent, but I could order food, understand the numbers and get basic directions.  That leaves me with the question of how do you teach your child another language when you, yourself can barely speak a second one?    Little Pim has a series of DVDs, audio CDs, books and apps that make things learning another language possible for children. A review tail of 2 bunny books: Billy Bunny and Counting Bunnies

With Easter just around the corner we were given the opportunity to take a look at two books about bunnies.  Easter bunnies that is, all hopping happy and here to make small children smile with delight.  More Mojo is 1.5 YO and 3YO Mojo both love books so we gave it a go.  The results were mixed, but neither one left us with a lump of charcoal in our Easter egg. Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Rush-not just for kids

I’m a big Rush fan.  They were long overdue to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Justice served, they’re in and have just been given the lullaby treatment from Rockabye Baby!  Continue reading Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of Rush-not just for kids

Iron Man Armored Adventures Season 2, Volume 3 is great, but too short

A couple of months ago we took a look at Iron Man Armored Adventure.  Now we’re taking a look at volume 3 from season 2 and it’s as good as volume 1.  The animation is crisp, has lots of fast action and perfect for the entire family.  Simply Google the title and you’ll find more than a couple of 5 year old boys singing the theme song.  Continue reading Iron Man Armored Adventures Season 2, Volume 3 is great, but too short

Little Dinos Don’t Bite is a great book for bedtime and beyond

A great book to read to a toddler is one that has bright pictures, words in big font and has lots of energy.  The energy is great because it keeps you awake and provides a more entertaining story to the child.  Michael Dahl’s books fit these criteria and are some of the most entertaining books you can read to a crawler and up.    His latest book, Little Dinos Don’t Bite is no exception to his track record as it’s packed with energy, sharp drawings and a story that children can easily relate to. NogginStik is the rattle that you wish you had as newborn

A rattle is a rattle.  We received lots of them for each child when they were born.  They were silver or multicolored plastic, made a rattling sound and did everything a rattle should do.  But what if a rattle could do more than just make a shaking noise when a baby moves it?  A NogginStik is just that, it’s bumpy on the stick part, has multicolored lights and a mirror on the bottom of it. Continue reading NogginStik is the rattle that you wish you had as newborn

Archie by Domenica More Gordon is a wordless book to howl over

Archie is a wordless book that tells the story of an owner, Archie, who starts making clothing for his dog.  Archie is also a dog, but he’s a human figure with a dog head.  So, Archie’s dog starts wearing this clothing and it’s a big hit!  Soon enough the owners who had been ordering clothing for their dogs want Archie to make them clothing too.   Continue reading Archie by Domenica More Gordon is a wordless book to howl over

Cypher Kids Club is a 3D interactive app that kids will really enjoy

We’ve been teaching 3YO Mojo his ABCs since he was nine months old using karuata.  Karuata is done by having whatever you’re trying to learn on cardboard flashcards, repeating them and then having your student slap the card when you say the object.  Cypher Kids Club takes karuta and blends it into a 3D app for your Apple devices to make learning fun for kids.
