Dads I want to give you a pep talk. The involvement of a father can dramatically reduce the odds of a child from getting involved with substance abuse. Those kids also live in a safer home, are more physically active and stand a much greater change to avoid poverty. Go dads, you rock, well most of you rock. Papa’s got a brand new (diaper) bag
We love our pets in the Mojo house. I had two cats and two dogs, then one wife and now one child. At any point in time the animals have always outnumbered the people. All of the animals have adapted well to Toddler Mojo stumbling around the room like a pint sized Frankenstein. The cats have learned to hide in high places and the dogs have peacefully learned to sit near him when he has food. Continue reading Papa’s got a brand new (diaper) bag
Casey Haynes, bullies, parents and the hypocrisy of YouTube
It’s been a busy week for viral videos, there’s the child laughing at mom blowing her nose, that strange creature with an umbrella and Casey Haynes getting bullied at school. The first two were great to see, but the bullying video has really taken on a life of its own for many reasons. Continue reading Casey Haynes, bullies, parents and the hypocrisy of YouTube
Mattel’s Clawdeen Wolf doll causes concern for parents
Toddler Mojo learned that he can close his eyes without going to sleep. He’s started squinting, then laughing, squinting his eyes, closing them and then falling on the floor laughing with his eyes closed. Some news stories make us want to close our eyes and this is one of them.
Clawdeen Wolf is a new entry in Mattel’s hugely popular Monster High doll line. Clawdeen Wolf looks like a stripper, granted that’s not too different from the Bratz dolls. Continue reading Mattel’s Clawdeen Wolf doll causes concern for parents
Parenting tips from a SAHD-Snacks
My wife and I are very lucky to have a child that loves and (has so far) stuck to a schedule. He wakes up at the same time, has breakfast, a snack, lunch, nap, dinner, bath and goes to bed each day within ten minutes every day. It requires a bit of timing and patience, but it allows us to have a nice dinner together and know what to expect during the day with a 17 month old toddler. A dad and the communication stages of the Toddler
The 17 month old toddler is a magical, highly excitable creature that still has trouble communicating to mom and dad. While the toddler’s point gets made, it lacks a certain finesse. In observing our toddler we’ve determined that a 17 month old has three forms of verbal communication: Chinese Baby, Bobcat Goldwaite and The Singing Frog, Continue reading A dad and the communication stages of the Toddler
Massive children’s consignment sale in Roswell this weekend
We are big fans of buying used. It’s good for the environment and helps us remain frugal with our limited supply of cash.
We’re also pumped about our favorite consignment sale of the year happening this weekend. It’s the bi-annual Second Childhood Consignment at 1425 Market Boulevard, Roswell, GA, 30076 in the old Comp USA location. The sale is March 4, 10-6PM, March 5, 9-3 and March 6, Continue reading Massive children’s consignment sale in Roswell this weekend
As a parent, should you advise other parents?
Nobody likes people who butt into their business. They offer suggestions and voice their opinions when we may not want or need them. This can be especially true when it comes to parents and the style or manner in which they raise their children.
We encountered two situations recently where we didn’t say anything, but left possibly wishing that we should have.
