These are the three items at Best Buy that you need to save money #ad

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and we really do like faster downloads, streaming TV, saving money and watching live TV. My wife and I are a great team and we each know our role. She’s the type that is less likely to start something while I’m the one that is less likely to complete a project. Know your role. Knowing that about us, I just completed three tasks from start to finish that will save the family money, entertain us more, frustrate us less and it all took less than one hour to accomplish. We installed a Nest Learning Thermostat, Netgear Nighthawk DST Router with DST Adapter and Sling TV; all from Best Buy, with each one doing amazing things.

How to install a refrigerator gasket

Who is putting magnet droppings inside the refrigerator? I looked at the boys just in case they had taken scissors from the craft closet. I checked if the magnet monster in the house to see if they had to use the bathroom. Both situations were negative. After looking at the refrigerator door I saw that the gasket had a crack along the top and that it was also fraying parts of it, leaving it inside and creating a loose seal once it was closed.

Celebrate Force Friday with these Star Wars kitchen tools

Force Friday is upon us! That means oodles of new Star Wars Toys just in time for when the upcoming The Force Awakens hits theaters. We love our toys. More specifically our boys will love the new Star Wars toys. However, what about you, the person who cooks, spends a lot of time in the kitchen and still wants to get your Force Friday on in cooling style?

There are options beyond the Han Solo Ice Cube tray that you might have seen, which is still awesome by the way. How about a pizza cutter with light saber sounds, Star Wars X-Wing Bottle Opener or a R2D2 Bottle Stopper for those thirsty wine drinking Jedis?

Get dirty with #MyFilthiestPlay and qualify to win a new Maytag Washer #ad

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Maytag for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Children are dirty, filthy little people that haven’t learned to avoid messes. Is it that they intentionally seek out messy situations or are they simply playing with reckless abandon and we adults are the ones who need to get dirtier?  A valid argument could be made for either case. Either way if you have children they’ll have laundry that gets stained with all manner of grass, dirt, gunk or other stuff. If you have boys their clothing will get stained beyond recognition in their attempt to change the original color from whatever to ‘dirt’. Parents can get the last laugh by participating in the #MyFilthiestPlay contest  from Maytag laundry and sharing some truly filth, in a good way, moments.

Naptime DIY: killing weeds with the BernzOmatic Lawn and Garden Torch

We’ve tried a variety of methods to kill our weeds. Brand name stuff, vinegar, salt-you name it. “Why not try fire”, a friend of ours suggested. The BernzOmatic Lawn and Garden Handheld Torch Head is just that. Using propane, it supposedly burns weeds to the core. But does it really- and more importantly, is it safe?

Steve McQueen, a Mustang, Charger and our #FirstCarMoment #ad

I partnered with Life of Dad and Michelin for this promotion.  I have received compensation for my participation, but my first car memories are my own and I’m jealous of my 16YO self. My dad wanted me to be Steve McQueen. Granted he never actually told me that, nor have I seen my dad avidly watching his old movies, but he did. My first car was a 1968 white Ford Mustang. The year was 1984, Van Halen just released their classic album (ask your mom kids) and I was driving one of the coolest cars ever. That’s our #FirstCarMoment and while I don’t remember what tires were on it; I can say that our son’s first car won’t be as cool as mine, but it’ll darn sure have great quality tires.

Dads clean up, but just in case Merry Maids can too #ad

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and the stories, regardless of how dirty are true. The fabulous house cleaning debate varies from house to house. In our house we do a fair job of splitting the cleaning duties. Overall, I do most of the cleaning, but that’s just because I’m the stay at home parent. Most is relative because there are still many periods when my wife starts cleaning something or asks me to get on it. The Merry Maids Father’s Day Program did a study that has results that might surprise some folks, plus they’re giving away a house cleaning and other groovy prizes.

Merry Maids Mother’s Day Program is simple, for all and appreciated #ad

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts are our own. And we clean, yes we do. True story: I was sitting on the playground today with a handful of moms. I asked them what they wanted for Mother’s Day.  Granted I was crowd sourcing for affirmation because my Mother’s Day gifts are already locked down. However, after speaking with the moms they let me know that I was on the right track and that many of their husbands weren’t.
