Everyone has television shows that they grew up with that triggers memories from when they were a kid. It’s the show that, when placed against today’s television seems for the most part better, more wholesome and really embodied family entertainment. Mention family television to moms and dads of a certain age and the one show that they’ll mention is Little House on the Prairie. The classic show about the Ingalis family experiencing life on the American frontier in the 1870s is what generations of people grew up with.

Prior to being a dad I taught ESL for two years. I’m a big proponent for children learning a second language ASAP. I also know that the best way to learn is total immersion. The problem with children learning a second language is that they start too late and it isn’t total immersion in some educational instances. Whistlefritz is a learning language program for children. Their Spanish program has been out for a while and we got the chance to review some of their newly released French program.

Taking the story of a video game to another medium is problematic. The material usually won’t stand up to the larger format or longer running time. With very few successes you can’t think of a video game that has successfully converted to another visual format other than games. Sure it may have sold some different toys, but video is a whole different ballgame. That is what is so surprising about Angry Birds Toons Season 1, Volume 2, it’s good. Actually it’s better than good, has our kids laughing out loud and is entertaining for adults too, here’s why.

My inner monologue often ponders the question of why Peeps are so tasty. Is it the fun shapes? The many different colors? Or do they just taste great regardless of when they’re eaten or what shape they are? If Peeps were the shape of a flounder or a lemon would they still taste good? I still read comic books. A friend of mine from college writes for a couple major comic books now and reading his material makes you realize that it is not easy to write good stories for that medium. Drawing is an entirely different skill. I’ve been able to doodle, but that’s it. The Marvel pen won’t do much to improve my drawing abilities to where I’m on par with today’s comic book artists, but it is great fun to use.
