Recently we wrote about the new extensive beer selection on sale at ALDI. Recap: they’re awesome. Now we’re giving away a $25 gift card to ALDI. You can use it however you would like-and if you haven’t shopped there it will go a long way. We go there every week and spend around $30. That amount takes us most of the way through the week for a family of four for the basic food needs. OK, add some of their new beers and the tally goes up, but you get the picture.

Judge not lest you be judged, in theory and reality #SisterhoodUnite #ad
We were compensated for this post. Having said that, all thoughts are our own. I judged someone on social media one. It was for the silliest of reasons too for someone who I never met, Renee Zellwegger. It was right after she appeared with a drastically different face, remember that? I was filled with righteous indignation about how her new look would do something or another causing harm to society and the tectonic plates underneath Oklahoma and California. A couple hours after I wrote it I took it down. Sure I had a right to judge her, just as she has a right to judge me; but, neither action would do any good, nor promote anything positive. Stop judging is one of the thoughts behind the #SisterhoodUnite campaign at Similac now. If you’ve got a positive story about your parent experience go there now and share it!

The new ALDI extensive beer selection and our homemade BBQ recipe #ad
We were compensated for this post. Having said that, we love to grill out and we really like beer, thus all thoughts are our own. I am a kitchen sink cooker. By that I mean I use rough estimates when cooking and love to experiment with new tastes. I like our go-to BBQ chicken recipe, but am always on the hunt for something new. With a little tweaking I created a groovy new BBQ chicken recipe, plus I picked up some specialty beer from ALDI and got cooking.
First off, we really do shop at ALDI. Every week it’s the place where we get our staple items. Over the course of two plus years it’s saved us just over $2,500. Really, I just checked with my wife who keeps the books for the family-that is how much we’ve saved. “Wow, that grocery bill sure was high”, she said after we spent $110 at another place when we were on vacation the other week. Secure in the fact that I’ve been saving the family money, I could proceed to create a new BBQ flavor for me on the grill.

First Big Book of the Ocean is edu-reading at its best
We’re a National Geographic Kids Insider. All thoughts are our own and product was provided for review. Our five-year old loves animals. He started out with farm animals when he was two and now he’s moved on to anything that walks, slithers, walked at one point, flies or swims. Our recent trip to the beach provided a nice opportunity for him to dig into First Big Book of the Ocean by Catherine D. Hughes. It’s published by National Geographic and has big enough words to be a challenge to middle schoolers while having great pictures and simple enough vocabulary for elementary assisted reading.

Melanoma 2 years on: having blood drawn and cracking your head open
It was a little over two years ago that I was diagnosed with Melanoma and went in for treatment. Since then I’ve shunned the sun, have gotten used to clothing with a high SPF, love my hats and saw our Oncologist once a quarter. This past week marked the last time that I needed to see him once a quarter. Now the visits go down to twice a year and then once a year for a couple of years and then, hopefully never again.

This is why men don’t call other men handsome
I was out with my wife the other day and we saw a couple that we know. Her husband and I gave each other the man-nod and exchanged pleasantries. That’s the simple head tilt upwards quickly followed by a “what’s up?” or “how’s the weekend?”. It may not officially be called the man-nod, but it is virtually guaranteed that no women greet each other that way. That is because women, usually after the initial greeting say “you (or possibly that outfit) look so pretty”.

A boy’s Fantastic time 4 eating out at Denny’s with dad #ad
We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and rest assured, we really, really like to eat. “I liked the castle Denny’s daddy”, our oldest said as we drove away. Well, to be fair, it was constructed with lots of big logs, rocks and we drove over a lake (which he could’ve thought was a mote), so in the eyes of a five year old it could look like a castle. Castle setting aside there was no sense of Doom, we were there to eat, learn about the new Fantastic 4 menu items and tell you about how you and a buddy can win a trip to the world premiere of the film.

As part of the #MoDSquad for Father’s Day, this is what #Imbornto
We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own and really, this organization is so easy to support. Read the later hashtag again, except this time, say it aloud. #Imbornto, that’s a heavy line isn’t it? It kind of reminds you of the last line Tom Hanks said in Saving Private Ryan. For the record it was “Earn this” and for me it was more motivational than sad. March of Dimes has partnered with The Motherhood this Father’s Day to spread awareness, raise some money this Father’s Day season and be thankful.
