How to make daylight savings time easier on small children

Parents to children know that something strange happens to them on Daylight Savings Time. Specifically in the fall when folks in the United States are coming off Daylight Savings Time, ie, losing an hour, young children may behave differently. Differently, waking up at odd times, being crabby or otherwise behaving unlike the angels that they normally are.

The Rainbow Bridge is not a sequel to the Rainbow Connection

To those without pets The Rainbow Bridge could be confused with the song from Kermit the Frog, The Rainbow Connection.  In reality the rainbow bridge is a euphemism for a pet dying.  If you’re like me then ‘sexual’ is often implied with euphemism, which is much more pleasant than this euphemism.  In this case hide the sausage and feed the kitty take back seat to the more permanent process of putting a terminally sick pet to sleep.

Of long marriages, Charles Schultz, Peanuts and forgotten MLK quotes

You may have heard about the really sweet story from Ohio this past week.  An elderly couple, married for 65 years died within 11 hours of each other.  Harold Knapke was 91 and his wife, Ruth was 89.  They raised six children and they saw their closeness in passing as ‘a final act of love’.   Whenever I hear stories like that I’m reminded of Charles Schultz, Peanuts and a not so famous quote from MLK. Velveeta Skillet Singles was a pinch hitter for our meal and knocked our #PersonalFeast out of the park. Continue reading 2 boys and a dad get a #PersonalFeast with @EatLiquidGold #shop #cbias

WWE Champion John Cena grants a wish on the Australian tour

I understand how and why people like the sports or entertainment that they do.  It’s what they enjoy and takes them to a place where they can yell, hoot, be quiet or however it is they enjoy themselves.  Professional athletes are not role models-they play sports; but are all too often confused for role models by the media or their younger fans.  WWE Champion John Cena goes against the grain and manages to be both a role model and an athlete. Family travel along the Georgia coast: short cuts, a petting zoo & The Wiregrass Trail

The Georgia coast has some really pretty beaches.  While Hilton Head is technically in South Carolina, you’re probably driving there via I-16 and Savannah.  I-16 is the interstate road that you get from Macon/I-75.  About two hours outside of Savannah look for exit 98.  If you’re headed to the South Georgia coast area of Jeckyll Island/St. Simmons Island or north to Savannah/Hilton Head; exit 98 can save you time or provide a needed break for families with kids.
