We do love music. Prior to having all of our music on MP3 looking over ones CD collection was the litmus test of how cool that person was. Our musical tastes have wandered over the years and now that we’ve established ourselves it’s a good time to reflect on songs that give us Mojo. A Dad (and Wife) review The Expendables and The A-Team
It’s two movies, so seemingly attached at the hip that they deserve to be reviewed together. Over a three week period my wife and I saw both of these movies. We weren’t locked in a room with these movies and neither one was so bad that it look an excessively long time to watch; we were just really busy caring for our toddler. Dad day in the doctor’s waiting room
Today I had to take Baby Mojo to the doctor. After check in we went into the “well patient” waiting area where they have a couple toys and a movie playing. It was unique today because every parent with their child was a dad. Baby Mojo settled on the floor and started playing with another boy while his father and I chatted about our kids.
When the nurse came for the next patient she said, “Wow, it looks like Dad Day in the waiting room”. With one less dad in the waiting room I could focus my attention to Toy Story 2, which was playing on television. I defy anybody to not get sucked into watching that movie. It’s like a giant sink hole in Florida, except in a good way, unless it was sucking up one of those neon t-shirt shops, then it’s still in a good way. A dad reviews the ads for ‘Life As We Know It’
October is a fabulous time of the year. Every weekend has beautiful weather, there are numerous festivals and it’s great just to open the windows, nap or read. With all of these pleasant activities it sure would take something magical to drag me out to the movie theatre.
Thankfully Life As We Know It seems to have nothing redeeming to drag the common dad away from relaxing at home.
I was thumbing through a magazine and saw this advertisement for the movie. Continue reading A dad reviews the ads for ‘Life As We Know It’
Handmade toys, sock monkeys and crafty dads
I like toys that thud in a wooden way. This is American Craft Week and nice wooden handmade blocks or trains are a great way to shape a childs imagination. Alternately I’m a big fan of the sock monkey, another handmade toy that makes adults smile and kids happy. Continue reading Handmade toys, sock monkeys and crafty dads
Birthday party planning tips
Birthday parties for kids are meant to be fun. It’s an occasion that should be celebrated and can be a great opportunity for kids to run around, socialize and (hopefully) sleep better tonight. The line between a good and bad party is a fine one that can be easily navigated by following a couple really simple laws. Continue reading Birthday party planning tips
The Yank on the billboard-How not to break into radio
One Date Night recently at the Mojo house we decided to rent Pirate Radio. That movie had been in our list to see because I was familiar with the story and have a relationship to its history. Before I was a stay at home dad I traveled around a bit. During one of those traveling stints I was working at The Peacock in Nottingham, England.
One night when I was working these business men came over from the BBC, which was located across the street. After a bit of chatting to them I said that I did some radio and was traveling. They mentioned that a friend of theirs was in Italy running a radio station and might need some help. Continue reading The Yank on the billboard-How not to break into radio
Travelling with a toddler
Our first trip as a family was to the beach, with an infant. Nine months later we made the same trip with a toddler. The second trip was infinitely more enjoyable while we were there, but, was a crying mess going and coming.
The trip down there with a toddler was much worse than coming back and the next trip should be even easier, now that we’ve learned a couple things. Continue reading Travelling with a toddler
