Ridley Pearson visits Little Shop of Stories, May 3, 7PM

My family and I just returned from Disney Social Media Moms at Walt Disney World.  While I was there I had the opportunity to meet Ridley Pearson and hear him speak about getting kids motivated about reading.  Ridley was a very engaging speaker who effortlessly weaved tales about Dave Barry, 10 foot Pythons and the creative process of writing a book into an entertaining, linear story.  Continue reading Ridley Pearson visits Little Shop of Stories, May 3, 7PM

Van Halen concert review, Kool & The Gang and Billy Mack

The new Van Halen release is very good.  I reviewed A Different Kind of Truth recently and the songs are surprisingly hard and well crafted.  I also commented that there was no way I was paying more than $150 to see anybody in concert.  Thankfully, my fabulous wife came through and won us some tickets! Democrats declare war on stay at home moms, SAHDs jealous

I’m a news junkie in the body of a stay-at-home-dad.  The story of Hilary Rosen and what she said about stay-at-home-moms not “working a day in their lives” if fascinating on so many levels.  It’s a great example of how a story can get blown out of proportion in a very short amount of time. The Raid Redemption is a near perfect action movie

Mirror Mirror falls short of entertaining, even in fairy tale land

It’s the year of Snow White!  Dwarf and Shakespearean actors rejoice because there will be lots of screen time for you in some production of Snow White on television or in movies.  Mirror Mirror is the first movie this year to hit and casts a fresh light on the familiar tale of Snow White.  Continue reading Mirror Mirror falls short of entertaining, even in fairy tale land

Alicia Silverstone feeds her son like a bird, parents call fowl

My wife was checking up on Facebook and she casually asked me if I’d seen the video of Alicia Silverstone feeding her son like a bird.  “Like a bird”, I asked, “You mean regurgitating it?”  She then went on to ask me if I knew what her son’s name was.  I guessed Robin, but that’s incorrect. Lessons learned from disappointment and country music

Because I drive the kids around most of the radio stations can’t be listened to because the music is too coarse for young ears.  My motto is that if they have to bleep out words, then it’s a station I don’t listen to with the kids.  It was shortly after driving with the kids that I started listening to country music.
