Kirby: Genesis Vol. 1, trade paperback-Review

I received the PDF for this graphic novel just over a month ago.  I read it in a couple of days and have procrastinated reviewing it because every time I opened it to review it I couldn’t stop reading or looking at the art.  Granted I’m somewhat easily distracted (look-a kitten!), but Genesis sucked me into an old school comic world I haven’t seen in a while. Dad spends a night in the mancave: Safe

Jason Statham movies need to be reviewed by an entirely separate grading system.  For the most part he plays a policeman/military guy who has been framed or had his family hurt.  When Statham steps out of that stereotype he can shine as an actor, for proof of that just look The Transporter, Italian Job and Bank Job.  Continue reading Dad spends a night in the mancave: Safe

The weak men and women of The Week The Women Went

Last week I reviewed a new 5 episode series on Lifetime called The Week The Women Went.  As a television show it’s watchable, but very far from enjoyable. The concept behind the show is interesting, but in the end it’s just a mess.  It’s rare that commentary is done on Daddy Mojo, but being from the south and having been on reality TV, a voice of reason and logic needed to step in.  Continue reading The weak men and women of The Week The Women Went

Four reasons why The Hulk is just like Dad

As a Dad and lifelong comic book guy I can see parts of my personality in most characters.  The character that most likely fits my personality now is The Hulk.  As a dad the farther down the parenting road I go the more I realize that The Hulk is also a great encapsulation of all things Dad. Continue reading Four reasons why The Hulk is just like Dad

Power Rangers Super Samurai: Black Box & Showdown review

Our kids are too young to enjoy the Power Rangers. At almost 3 and 1 they’re much simpler, so to properly review these DVDs I called in a diverse group of kids who ranged from 5-11. I watched the videos also, but I sense that the Power Rangers are vying for my wallet and not my critical opinion. Continue reading Power Rangers Super Samurai: Black Box & Showdown review
