Athlete vs. Mathlete by W.C. Mack is great reading for ages 7 and up

My wife normally reads the young adult books.  She was busy with another book so I jumped into Athlete vs. Mathlete.  As the book is aimed at young adults I enlisted an actual young reader to read the book as well. Win a pair of tickets to The Who 2/22 at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall

One of the groovy things about having worked in radio for a long time is that I’m well versed in many genres of music.  I also attended lots of concerts.  One of the classic artists we saw was The Who.  It was a hot summer night in North Carolina, there was no shade in the stadium, but the concert was loud, fun and unforgettable. The Who is on tour now and we’re giving away a pair of tickets to see them at their performance at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall on February 22. Red She-Hulk 62 is good, consistent, story oriented Hulk

I’ve been reading Hulk for a couple of years now.  At first he was the regular green Hulk, then Thunderbolt Ross (Red Hulk) and now Red She-Hulk.  The good part, from a story telling perspective is that all of them have taken place in the same book.  There was no forced reboot or taking the issues back to #1, they just changed the name of the book to Red She-Hulk.  Continue reading Red She-Hulk 62 is good, consistent, story oriented Hulk

6 tips on taking small children to a movie theater

We saw Skyfall when it was it theaters, great movie if you haven’t seen it.  The theater was packed and seating was limited.  In front of our seats was a young couple with a 3 month old in their baby carrier.   The specter of a crying newborn was almost as scary as Javier Bardem’s performance was creepy.  Continue reading 6 tips on taking small children to a movie theater

Star Trek: TNG/Doctor Who Assimilation 2, Vol 2 is logical and fun

I am a novice geek in that there a couple touchstone franchises I never got into.  I was a casual Star Trek fan (because, let’s face it Star Wars is overall better) and the only Doctor Who I had ever seen were episodes that aired on PBS in the mid 70’s.  All I remembered of that were bad special effects and a tall man with a big hat a poofy hair.  Continue reading Star Trek: TNG/Doctor Who Assimilation 2, Vol 2 is logical and fun

Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Circus-Dragons in Atlanta and Duluth Feb 13-Mar 3

3 YO Mojo is giddy. For the past two years we’ve been to the welcoming ceremony for the circus.  That’s the elephant parade for lack of a better term when some elephants and clowns come outside the arena the morning before the first show.  Those times he was too young to enjoy it, but now that he knows (and loves) all of his animals, he is primed to go this year. Iron Man Armored Adventures Season 2, Volume 3 is great, but too short

A couple of months ago we took a look at Iron Man Armored Adventure.  Now we’re taking a look at volume 3 from season 2 and it’s as good as volume 1.  The animation is crisp, has lots of fast action and perfect for the entire family.  Simply Google the title and you’ll find more than a couple of 5 year old boys singing the theme song.  Continue reading Iron Man Armored Adventures Season 2, Volume 3 is great, but too short
