In Big Daddy’s Rules, Raising Daughter is Tougher Than I Look we meet a dad of two young girls. What initially makes the story engaging is that the dad is Steve Schirripa, actor and star of numerous TV hits including The Sopranos and The Secret Life of An American Teenager. Steve is also a very large, intimidating man from New Jersey. He fits the mold of an angry Italian onscreen and the written stories of him being a dad are educational, funny and something I could relate to. Continue reading Big Daddy’s Rules-a tough dads tale on raising daughters is charming and funny

Epic isn’t really ‘epic’, but the under 12 crowd will love it
And the anime people will like it, but more on that in a moment. Epic is a shrunken world story about the Leaf Men, who are protecting nature and the Boggans, who are out to destroy it. There is also a scientist who is looking for this small world. His daughter comes to visit for the spring, gets shrunken to Leaf Men size and the movie takes off. I love my Roku. We disconnected cable many months ago, purchased one and live off NetFlix, the occasional Hulu and sometimes live TV. The benefit of this is that we’ve discovered dozens of new shows. I finally get Doctor Who now, which in turn led me to Torchwood (even better) and the new Star Trek movie led me to Sherlock. Continue reading Dad Spends a Night in the Mancave: Sherlock is top notch

Iron Man 3 is less Iron, more Man-but very entertaining

They’d talk about how great they were, mention their previous entries and then Iron Man mentions that his previous movie was actually The Avengers. Then Batman would laugh, talk about the Justice League Movie (yeah…right) and Iron Man would go on talking about Avengers 2. Continue reading Iron Man 3 is less Iron, more Man-but very entertaining

Thunderbolts #8, continues to disappoint despite great characters
Thunderbolts should be a comic that I can’t wait to receive in the mail. The first issue started out strong. A rag tag group of anti-heroes, Red Hulk, The Punisher, Elecktra, Deadpool and Venom team up to solve problems that other entities or superheroes can’t. Unfortunately since the 4th issue of Thunderbolts it’s dragged and the art has gotten too big and clunky. Continue reading Thunderbolts #8, continues to disappoint despite great characters
