Discover the Dinosaurs review: great times for kids for 2+ hours

Discover the Dinosaurs is a traveling exhibit that features dinosaur attractions of a wide variety.  The entire exhibition is broken up into two distinct areas. The exhibit area features the moving, roaring dinosaurs that will captivate your child’s imagination.  The other areas like the Dino Dig, Dino Theater, Dino Den, Dinosaur Rides, inflatables, gem & fossil panning, mini golf and gift shop make up the other half.  Our review of Discover the Dinosaurs says that it’s a great time for kids, but parents need to be aware of a couple things in order to really appreciate the event.

Instructions Not Included review: A mish mash that works in spite of itself

Instructions Not Included is a Spanish film that was originally released under the title No se aceptan devoluciones.  It’s an updated version of Kramer vs. Kramer, but played for laughs and with one of the main characters having a terminal illness.  What is surprising is that, even with this plot, Instructions Not Included works out to be an entertaining, at times laugh out loud movie.

Bon Jovi will be my son’s Led Zeppelin

I grew up in the 70’s.  I’ll save the What’s Happening jokes and Evel Knievel references for another post and keep this solely about the mystery and romance of radio.   During that time radio and basement listening, just like in That’ 70’s Show was the only way to get music.  Music didn’t get any better for the rock set than Led Zeppelin.  The other day I was driving, rocking out with the kids when I realized that Bon Jovi will be my son’s Led Zeppelin.

The Adventures of Chuck & Friends: Trucks Versus Wild review

We cut cable in 2012.  Because of that there are dozens, if not hundreds of shows I had no idea that exist.  Witness Chuck & Friends, we have the toy and it’s awesome.  But wait they have a TV show too?  We were sent The Adventures of Chuck & Friends:  Trucks Versus Wild on DVD for a test drive and our kids loved it and I found it quite cute too.

Battroborg is great motion controlled robot boxing fun for ages 7 and up

Battroborg is a game that simply looks fun.  It has motion controlled robots and boxing-just add children aged 7 and up for hours of yelling, robot boxing fun.  Battroborg was named one on the Most Wanted Holiday List 2013 for Time To Play Mag, Best Action Toy of the Year in France and Belgium in addition to numerous other accolades.  But, does the toy deserve all of the praise?

Sticks N Stones N Dinosaur Bones: rhyming fun for dino kids

Kids love dinosaurs.  The funny thing about being a parent is that you start to love them again too.  You remember how to pronounce the names, the silent “P” in Pteranodon for example and how much they really stretch the imagination.  Sticks N Stones N Dinosaur Bones is a slightly historical take on the Bone Wars in the 1870’s.  It’s a fact based children’s book, with just enough whimsy and tall tails to make kids dream of dinosaurs and the men who chased their bones.

Dad spends a night in the mancave, Ninja II: Shadow of a Tear review

Nothing says mancave happiness like a good ninja movie.  Ninja II: Shadow of a Tear is a ninja movie with an old school heart and in some cases that’s not a good thing.  However, this is a ninja movie and people who will watch this grade ninjas on a curve, lest they come through the screen and kick our butt. I was joking with my wife that I was going to watch Ninja II:  Electric Boogalooo.**  Thankfully Shadow of a Tear wasn’t like that, but it wasn’t a ninja classic either.
