Peppa Pig-My Birthday Party: creative & fun characters for kids

We don’t have cable.  Because of that we miss out on some shows and networks.  Peppa Pig airs on Nick Jr. and is one that we hadn’t seen until this video.  Each episode is just over 5 minutes, has a very brisk pace and is quite disarming.  Our children, even the 4 year old, loved Peppa Pig.  Our 2 year old liked it too, but his way of showing appreciation consisted of pointing and yelling at the DVD cover.

The Pirate Fairy is solid, staple entertainment from Disney

The Pirate Fairy is a movie that children, especially girls 3-10 will thoroughly enjoy.  That is not to say that boys won’t like it, but they may start watching the movie thinking that it’s mainly a pirate movie.  The pirates enter The Pirate Fairy 34 minutes into it and are there for the rest of it.  However, make no mistake about it, this is a fairy movie akin to Secret of the Wings.

Win tickets to Georgia Aquarium for a family of 4

Every city has its peaks and valleys.  One of the peaks of living near Atlanta is being so close to Georgia Aquarium.  We have annual passes there and visit at least once a month.  I also worked at the world’s largest theme park (Walt Disney World) for a couple of years and know a thing or two about getting the most out of a visit to an attraction.   With spring break coming up here are some tips and a chance to win tickets to Georgia Aquarium for a family of 4.

Extreme Dinosaurs review: Hands on enjoyment for kids

4 years old is a hot age for children and dinosaurs.  They know dinosaur songs, the names of more big ones than I remember and seemingly can’t get enough of them.  Extreme Dinosaurs is a new exhibit at Atlantic Station in Atlanta that has 17 audioanimatronic dinos that snarl, move and do things that will make children’s eyes open wide.

Muppets Most Wanted-awesome fun for all ages

Really, I couldn’t write a better headline than that?  Muppets Most Wanted-fun for all ages sounds so generic to the smiles, joy and laughter that I had when watching it.  After sitting at the keyboard for a while, I keep coming back to that.  It’s a great movie that children will enjoy and adults, especially those that liked The Muppets before, will genuinely laugh at.

Divergent might satisfy fans of the book but that’s it

Divergent is the worldwide mega book best seller with a strong female lead.  I didn’t read the book-and I’m over 30-and I’m not a girl.  Having said that, you don’t have to be a girl to like this movie, but it would certainly help if you were under the age of 20.

New on DVD, Thomas & Friends: Spills & Thrills-good train fun for toddlers

One barometer of how old my children are is the shows that they watch.  Both boys love Thomas, but back when our first was young the transformation from real to computer animated trains threw me for a loop.   Now the computer animation is what I expect  from Thomas, Cranky and his other friends on Sodor.  Now our 2 year old watches Thomas the Train with his older brother, while he tries to pretend he doesn’t like it.

LeapFrog Letter Factory : The Letter Machine Rescue Team giveaway

Our boys are raised on Leap, Tad and the other critters that make up the LeapFrog videos.  We started teaching phonics to our oldest and I partially credit their phonic usage in his being able to read sight word and fully know his A, B, Cs as well as he does.  Their latest video, Letter Factory: The Letter Machine Rescue Team gets the band back together, but also amps up the education while tweaking the format.
