Kindie and children’s music are fascinating subcultures. To distant observers they’re the same, yet once you dig into them they’re quite different, just like children. French Playground is a compilation of French and Quebec music that blends both worlds of kindie and children’s music into its own creation that almost defies categorization.
The reviewer has been compensated in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card. What color should you paint the kitchen or how should you design that room? If only there was an expert source that could tell you all of possibilities, as well as, the pros and cons about doing something a certain way. The Best Buy Free In-Home Consultation is just that, an expert in all manner of technology and trends comes out to your house and lets you know the options that exist for your house.
Currently the Best Buy In-Home Consultation is available in Atlanta, Austin, Orlando and San Antonio. Our consultant, Stas visited our home with a blank slate. While filling out the form I let him know that we’re open to doing most of the upgrades that we checked out inside our local Best Buy. Our kitchen needs new appliances, I want our tech to operate as well as it should and I’m curious about some of the creature comforts.
We received this for review purposes. Any scares, lack of sleep or visions of terror are all ours. Horror films aren’t just something that folks appreciate in October. Horror Pack is a company that understands that and has the sole focus of providing them with horror films every month. Each month they ship out four different, new Blu-ray DVDs to people who the scares, monsters, evil and gore that a good horror film can be. Horror Pack is obviously something that is only OK for those over 18, unless you’re a footloose teen into one of those slasher films the kids like.

Yo-Kai Watch, if you’re in elementary school you know the deal. You can discover mischievous Yo-Kai, those invisible ghosts/beings that cause mayhem in the world around us. Think Billy’s “Not-Me” character from The Family Circus, update it for today’s audiences and you’ve got an idea of why kids enjoy the show. On October 15, for one showing only you can catch Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie Event in movie theaters.
To give you an idea of its popularity, when Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie Event was shown in Japan it broke advance ticket sales records and was the number one film in 2015. Yo-Kai Watch and the phenomenon surrounding it is kind of a big deal. In the film Nate, Jibanyan and Whisper need to travel back in time to get his Yo-Kai Watch. However, odds are all you have to is mention Yo-Kai Watch Movie to any kid 5-9 and they’ll be in the car waiting for you.
Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie Event will show at 11 AM at your local time. Please check here for complete theater locations and to confirm that your theater is on the same schedule. Attendees will have a chance to win a limited-edition Hovernyan Yo-Motion Yo-Kai Medal while supplies last. The film is not technically rated per the United States system, but is suitable for families and children. It has a running time of 95 minutes. Check the Fathom Events link for specific theaters near you, as well as, show times.
The rule in our house is that there only a couple author’s books that we can get rid of. It’s not that we want to get rid of any books, but due to age, space or children’s interest it’s simply impossible to keep them all. Sandra Boynton is one of those authors whose books we can’t get rid of. Granted some of her board books have had to be recycled because the spine was compromised and the pages were chewed through. EEK! Halloween! is her latest board book and if our children were younger I would worry for its safety.
First off, did you pick up any of the mini-comics for Halloween Comicfest? They come in packs of 25, only cost $4.99, are great to five out to kids in lieu of candy and arrived at your local comic book store. They also sell out very quickly, so if you want them double time it to the store ASAP. This week in all age comics brings the funny and a couple great action/science fiction comics. Not surprisingly, many of the regular issues have a supernatural aspect to them including Spongebob Comics #61, Disney Giant Halloween Hex #1 and Scooby Doo Where Are You #74.
If you’ve got a young reader who is 8 and older that wants their undead fix then your option is Ghoul Scouts, Night of the Unliving Undead. This is a series that really deals with the dead, but does so in a kid friendly way that entertains, teaches a couple lessons and has a group of kids running from a potentially zombified town. What’s impressive is that there are thrills and it’s really appropriate for ages 8 and up.
Marvel Universe Guardians of the Galaxy #13 is the all ages super hero series that consistently entertains. It’s Drax, he’s angry and the rest of his friends join him in the coming war with Asgard. Do your kids like the Guardians of the Galaxy series on Disney XD? If so they will love this comic book, it’s packed with action, humor and works for ages 6 and up.
Where is your closest comic book store? Did you hear the podcast? What comics are you reading? Let us know what you like in the comments or hit us up on twitter.
At the risk of being redundant here, we love Simpsons Comics. Issue to issue it’s one of the go-to all age comics that you can get for ages 7 and up. Each year around Halloween they release The Simpsons’ Treehouse of Horror, a much thicker than average issue that brings in more scares, but with slapstick and over the top appeal. You’ve seen one of their Halloween episodes? It’s like that, but this is the comic book version.
