PJ Masks toys and crafts for the kids: review

Hey, we’re a PJ Masks Ambassador and received these for review. All thoughts are our own. Ode to be a pre-k through early elementary school student. It’s a magical time of the year for toys and games, general merriment and occasional not listening to parents. We were sent some cool PJ Masks toys and activities to play with. Here’s what our 5 and 7 year old thought of them.

First up we look at “To The Cat-Car” book. It’s a board book that has Catboy giving a guided tour of the Cat-Car. As the pages are thicker, it accommodates the wheels on the bottom of the book that provide the imagination some spark for kids to create their own Cat-Car.

Celebrate the holidays & Christmas with these shows on Netflix #StreamTeam

We’re part of the Stream Team for Netflix and were compensated or provided goods for this. All thoughts are our own. A holiday episode can be an obligatory thing for a television series. It can also serve as cliffhanger episode to lead viewers to the second half of the season. The episode doesn’t even need to mention Christmas. Sometimes it merely alludes to Christmas while directly referencing the greater ‘holidays’.  We found a sampling of some of our favorite holiday or Christmas episodes from cool television series that are currently on Netflix.

How I Met Your Mother, Season 2, Episode 11-How Lily Stole Christmas

How I Met Your Mother was a great show. The show wasn’t good for elementary school kids or lower middle school students. However, for audiences older than that it’s a very funny, laugh out loud show about friendship, relationships and life. Everyone has the character that they identify with the most and for many it’s Lily. Actress  Alyson Hannigan certainly had a fan base that followed her from Buffy The Vampire Slayer and this particular episode really highlights her comedic skills.

New Girl, Season 2, Episode 11-Santa

This episode from New Girl is one that I still remember years after originally seeing it. “Santa” also represents a great entry from what, for us, was the best season of the show. It’s funny, slightly bitter sweet and has things that any teen and older will identify with.

Christmas, holiday, pee-wee’s playhouse Christmas special, seaquest, the office, phineas and ferb, Netflix, Frasier, arrow, the flash,

Spy Ski School, an entry into one of middle school’s must-read book series

Do you have a child in middle school? If so, then they most likely know the Spy School book series by Stuart Gibbs.  Spy Ski School is the fourth in the series that includes Evil Spy School, Spy Camp and Spy School. Are you sensing a theme here? Spy Ski School continues the exploits of Ben Ripley, our 13 year old spy in training-and for the record, we do not have a kid in middle school but really liked the book.

Previously Ben has been locked up with a bomb, shot at with bullets, missiles and more, but manages to live another day. He’s in school with a group of other kids, all of whom are training to become a real spy. Despite seeing lots of action, Ben isn’t the best spy in the group. He’s got more training than his civilian friend Mike, but is certainly in the lower end of the spy pool for their specific talents.

Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures #1, cowabunga indeed

Let’s look at one of the most anticipated comics for us this year. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures is easily one of the best all age comics you can pick up any month.  Contrast that with the fact that there really isn’t a consistent Batman comic book that’s great for young readers.  Put the two franchises together for a 6-issue run where they have to work together and you have Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures, a mini-series that kids 6 and older must pick up.

Rebellion of Thieves, twists up Sherwood for a new audience

Rebellion of Thieves manages to do what many properties with classic origins fail to do. It’s a tricky balancing act, trying to infuse the lineage that generations of people know with a contemporary-or future tale that can stand on its own. Kekla Magoon, author of Rebellion of Thieves, a Robyn Hoodlum Adventure has created the unicorn of middle school books that will appeal almost equally to boys, as well as girls.

Paint By Sticker Masterpieces, small stickers add up to big art

We received a couple of books recently that are in a class to themselves. One of these books is Paint By Sticker Masterpieces; it’s the next level up from Paint By Stickers For Kids that our oldest son completed. Paint by Sticker Masterpieces is an intricate, detail rich way for advanced puzzle kids and adults to create unique works of art, in a cubist, rough animated manner.

Star Wars, Poster-A-Page: Creatures, Ships and Droids

Our kids are in the Star Wars sweet spot. (Note: I may use that phrase for the next 20 years) No, really, they both are in love with the idea and the fantasy that these classic characters bring alive. Star Wars, Creatures, Ships & Droids, a poster-a-page book is as simple, direct and enjoyable as a book can be to a kid who is between 6 and 11.

Two can’t-miss documentaries on Netflix, for different reasons. #StreamTeam

We’re part of the Stream Team for Netflix and were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own. My wife and I binge watch. We’ll find a show that both of us agree on and watch every episode. It’s the TV equivalent of a box of doughnuts. As a way to shake things up I took a moment to scroll through categories that are rarely visited from us and found two incredible films. Raiders!: The Story of the Greatest Fan Film Ever Made and Chuck Norris vs. Communism. Both are documentaries on Netflix, but are engaging enough to cast a wide net of entertainment that’ll grip anyone with memories of the 80’s.
