Children will love the Bigsby Interactive Story Buddy from Hallmark

As a gift the other year we gave one of the Hallmark interactive story characters to a friend’s child who had just turned 6.  The child loved the gift but I didn’t really get it.  Now that we have a child who is on the cusp of reading, I get it.  The Bigsby Interactive Story Buddy is another avenue for kids to enjoy reading and it really works.

2 books on foreign language and culture: 1 curious 1 conversational

We’re teaching our kids a 2nd language.  I’ll speak as much Spanish as I know, mix in bits of the other languages I speak, put in some Curious George en Espanol and they’re super happy to listen and learn.    We received two books that help children understand things outside of their own culture.  Bosley Sees the World is an English/Spanish book about a bear that travels the world.  If You Were Me and Lived in…..Norway is an introductory book about what life is like for Norwegian children.  Both books are good at teaching about different cultures; one just does it from a tourist perspective while the other is more education based.

I was given the chance to host a LeapFrog LeapReader, “Ready, Set, Read & Write Party.  As the host of the party I was provided with some product and the responsibility of being the ringleader for a group of 4 year olds.  That job was made much easier because the LeapReader is very intuitive for children ages 4 and up to use almost immediately.

Growing Up Online Free eBook & The Lorax Blu-ray Giveaway

As a parent the internet and social media are a bit intimidating.  I’m glad that our boys are young enough so that I can get ahead of it, if just barely.  I know that it changes quickly and what’s cool is suddenly not.  However I hope that by dad having some foothold in social media I’ll be able to assist and ward off some troubles for them.  Much like the internet makes activists slacktivists it also makes cyber-bullying much easier to do. On My Way to Bed is silly, bedtime story fun for kids

A good bedtime story has two ways to look at it:  it’s fun for the children to hear and it’s fun for the parents to read.  That’s our go-to rule for bedtime stories.  If it meets both of those criteria then it’s bound to be something that will last for a long time.  On My Way to Bed is the silly, brightly illustrated story about Livi creatively avoiding bedtime. Does being a full time child caregiver exempt you from jury duty?

It’s the dreaded piece of mail that people received once every couple of years; the jury summons.  Like death and taxes, the jury summons will be issued to everyone (in the U.S.) at some point in life.  I saw the big X that meant I was on standby, called the number the night before I was supposed to serve and got an exemption-or did I?
