Win a $100 gift card from Fandango #FandangoFamily

While the heat certainly makes summer challenging, there is so much to enjoy about this time of year. There is the pool, the beach and the movies. Have you seen Fury Road? That is the best action film that we’ve seen since The Raid. It is amazing. Inside Out is the (family) film that you have been waiting all year for. Minions, Jurassic, Max (not Mad, this is dog movie whose trailer made me cry and think of those quality coming-of-age films) , Rogue Nation and more.

It doesn’t have to be a family film with $100 from Fandango. You can take the family to a film, go see one that you’ve been itching to see, do a date night or take a group out for fun. The world is your oyster and this $100 gift card from Fandango will entertain you while you’re out enjoying it.

Inside Out is Pixar at its best #FandangoFamily

Name a movie studio that produces quality films and Pixar is almost certainly one of the first ones that you mention. Sure the other studios have hits and produce quality films, but Pixar has an expectation level that accompanies no other studio. Inside Out is Pixar’s 15th feature film and stands beside Toy Story in regards as what to expect from them and how good an animated film can be.

Is Jurassic World OK for children? #FandangoFamily

Imagine for a moment that Jurassic Park had never been made and the cultural impact that it created did not exist. If that were the case then Jurassic World and its plot would air just after Sharknado. Two lost teens (whose parents are getting divorced!), mutant dinosaurs, a dino trainer, kids in danger, hungry animals and more make up Jurassic World. It’s rated PG-13 and some movies with this rating are A-OK for tweens and young teens, but is Jurassic World OK for children?

The Legend of Longwood is perfect for 11 year old girls

When we first moved into our house the neighbor came over with his daughter. “She has two conversations, dog and horse” he said of his then 7 year old. The Legend of Longwood is the film that she would’ve loved at that age and still would like at her current age of 12. It’s the story of a 12 year old girl that moves from New York to Ireland, love horses and fights to save a herd of them from a scheming adult who is not marrying for love.

Tomorrowland starts strong, finishes weak #FandangoFamily

Spoiler free! About 20 minutes into Tomorrowland I was disagreeing with the reviews I had read. There is something about a Disney film that is rumored to be bad that really brings the forks out in writers. For the record I loved John Carter, which was savaged and Real Steel, which was larelty ignored. Tomorrowland is not a hot Disney mess as someone called it, but it is a big Disney disappointment to moviegoers over 12.

What the kids are watching on Netflix #StreamTeam

We’re part of the StreamTeam with Netflix and were compensated for this post.  All thought are our own. It’s almost the end of the school year and the kids are giddy with anticipation of spending more time at home.  The summer’s television schedule sometimes starts out low and ramps up towards the end.  This year we will maintain a more consistent routine and these shows will help us do that.  I’ve also included a couple options to entertain the parents for when they need a moment to relax.

Little Boy is a mixed bag of message, magic #FandangoFamily

The trailer for Little Boy and the actual film are quite different.  In a way that’s a good thing because the trailer does not give away key points of the film. The trailer presents a film that focuses on an 8 year old boy whose father goes off to war and the bond that connects them. That aspect of the plot runs all the way through it, mixed in with some childhood bullies, lessons in being different and what life was like in the mid 1940’s. The film is a  mix of drama, comedy and war movie, but those descriptions aren’t the reason for the mixed bag.

Little Boy, inspiration and a boy’s love for his father

Little Boy is a film that I’ll be watching soon for #FandangoFamily. It’s rated PG-13 so I won’t be taking our children who are three and five, but from the reviews that I’ve read it’s a solid film for date night, teens and the upper age tween children. Little Boy is the story about the relationship between an eight-year-old boy and his dad.
