7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens-updated for today’s teens

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is something I could have used as a kid. There was very little direction in my house and I just drifted from class to class in high school. If you pictured my life as The Breakfast Club, I was Brian. The difference was, while he got too much direction and pressure from his parents, I didn’t get enough. It doesn’t sound that bad – but it wreaks havoc with your confidence.

The Mojo household is a virtual feast of activity during the day. From changing diapers to teaching our oldest to use the scooter, our outdoor activities run the gamut during the summer. It was no surprise that we were stumbling over each other to use the Northwest Territory 8 Person Instant Cabin Tent in the backyard.

Six Flags Over Georgia: Hurricane Harbor review

Summer 2014 brings the biggest expansion in the history of Six Flags Over Georgia to the theme park.  Hurricane Harbor offers over 7 acres of new water rides that can provide parents a needed break in these final weeks of summer.  In total Hurricane Harbor has three new attractions and one very large renamed one, Paradise Island that was simple annexed into that area.

Montessori: Map Work immediately grabs (and holds) kid’s attention

Our oldest child who is four and a half loves animals.  It wasn’t too much of a surprise when he immediately grabbed Montessori: Map Work and put it in his bedroom to where I couldn’t find it for a couple weeks.  Having found the book again I can now review it just in time for its release.

I Am So Brave! really does help children overcome fear

I Am So Brave! is helpful in teaching children that some situations they may find scary can be overcome.  Initially I thought the book was too simplistic for even our two and a half year old.  Because of that the book stayed in my office for two weeks.  It wasn’t until a big thunderstorm came to the house that I realized just how helpful I Am So Brave! could be in action.

The Baby Neptune Ocean Orchestra: great sound, interactive and fun

As I mentioned, we love Baby Eisnstein.  We had an earlier version of the Baby Neptune Ocean Orchestra when our oldest was just a baby.  While the toy was fun and played some nice classical music, it wasn’t anything remarkable.  “How much could they really improve a device?”, I thought before I opened this up.  This toy is cool, the sound is crisp and the lights are vivid.

Baby Einstein Ocean Exploration Play Pad: great quality, but too loud

We love us some Baby Einstein in this house.  When our oldest was first born we stocked up on anything Baby Einstein that we could find at a certain price point.  Some of it came from garage sales and some new from the stores, depending on what it was.  The Ocean Exploration Play Pad from Baby Einstein combines elements of previous activities for babies.  It’s a great interactive learning tool that’s missing one key thing-a volume switch.

Brachiosaurus Backhoe from Dino Construction Company-durable, creative fun

Children love dinosaurs.  Children love construction vehicles.  A dinosaur construction vehicle is such a natural fit one wonders why a durable one for small hands isn’t in every sand box.  Sure The Transformers have vehicles, but they’re more imagination play and not dig in the dirt, move sticks stuff for small children.  Dino Construction Company has a lineup of vehicles that look like dinosaurs or vice versa depending on your allegiance.
