And it’s not their ability to lyrically flow over a beat or their affinity for marijuana. Recently Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell quit the UCLA football team. He did so because he wanted to pursue his passion for film through his company Film School Productions. It’s not my Speilbergian director skills either that bond all of this together. It’s just a dad who really wanted his son to do something, but his son didn’t want to.

The air in the house is giddy. The children are excited to start school; we’re pumped for a couple of reasons, not the least of which is life getting back to a schedule of sorts. We’ve done the back-to-school shopping. Even for kids going into preschool and kindergarten there are lots of things to purchase at our local Kroger. One item that was on our list was Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs; but not just for the purposes of school lunches, although we did get some specifically for a new cookie recipe we created.
When you have lots of small pieces to something the box will invariably get crushed or disappear. Our youngest child loves cards and that is A-OK with us because they are a fabulous learning tool. He tries to open card decks that are brand new just to make a mess out of them. For him it’s akin to opening a new book just to get that ‘new book’ smell. It was for the silliest of reasons too for someone who I never met, Renee Zellwegger. It was right after she appeared with a drastically different face, remember that? I was filled with righteous indignation about how her new look would do something or another causing harm to society and the tectonic plates underneath Oklahoma and California. A couple hours after I wrote it I took it down. Sure I had a right to judge her, just as she has a right to judge me; but, neither action would do any good, nor promote anything positive. Children are dirty, filthy little people that haven’t learned to avoid messes. Is it that they intentionally seek out messy situations or are they simply playing with reckless abandon and we adults are the ones who need to get dirtier? Well hello Sonic; I knew you as a video game back in the day, now you’re back as a show on Cartoon Network and a lineup of toys to boot. First off, I’d like to thank you for not being in Pixels. We’ve heard nothing but negative things about that film and we like you just fine on your television show. It’s great that Tails is getting some attention too. While you’re the namesake, Tails’ ability to fix things and flip about has always been something that we’d like to emulate. We played with Tails’ Plane with Tails and aside from the way our mind twists due to the number of times we said tails, the toy is quite nice and is one that our five year old likes to fly around the house.

The Magic School Bus is a show that flew under our radar when it first came out in 1994. The third season of the show is out on DVD and it’s one that our children watch consistently. Not only that, we’ve started watching with them and thoroughly enjoy it. Imagine childhood questions being answered by Lilly Tomlin, asking if you want the blue or red pill before you go on your Matrix-esque, kid friendly 26 minute journey and you have an idea about this series.
