There are no robots in the bathroom

Our three-year old Charlie is in that precious stage of life where he’s learning new things and fresh vocabulary every day. His treatment with apraxia is going well and he’s making his points known regardless of the time of day, relevance or how valid they are.  In his mind it’s appropriate to talk about next summer’s vacation, even though we’ve got a myriad of holidays, the entire school year and everyone’s birthdays, before that; but it’s OK for him to talk about them. He’s also into monsters and robots. Or he’s very scared of monsters of robots, depending upon when you ask him.

Denny’s teams up with No Kid Hungry to help hungry kids

Hey, we’re an ambassador for Denny’s. All thoughts are our own. On average one in five children are hungry and don’t receive the adequate amount needed. For years Denny’s has been raising funds for No Kid Hungry since their inception and are consistently one of their largest donors-with your help. That one in five figure varies from state to state, but take it as a county and 16 million kids in the United States are in that boat. Every year Denny’s makes it easy for you to support No Kid Hungry and has donated 2.3 million dollars so far, which provided 23 million meals to kids across the country.

Finally my father and Snoop Dogg have something in common

And it’s not their ability to lyrically flow over a beat or their affinity for marijuana.  Recently Snoop Dogg’s son Cordell quit the UCLA football team.  He did so because he wanted to pursue his passion for film through his company Film School Productions.  It’s not my Speilbergian director skills either that bond all of this together. It’s just a dad who really wanted his son to do something, but his son didn’t want to.

Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs – great for cookies, cards, figurines and more #ZiplocBackToSchool #Ad

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine and part of #ZiplocBackToSchool #CollectiveBias.

The air in the house is giddy. The children are excited to start school; we’re pumped for a couple of reasons, not the least of which is life getting back to a schedule of sorts. We’ve done the back-to-school shopping. Even for kids going into preschool and kindergarten there are lots of things to purchase at our local Kroger. One item that was on our list was Ziploc® brand bags with Easy Open Tabs; but not just for the purposes of school lunches, although we did get some specifically for a new cookie recipe we created.

When you have lots of small pieces to something the box will invariably get crushed or disappear. Our youngest child loves cards and that is A-OK with us because they are a fabulous learning tool. He tries to open card decks that are brand new just to make a mess out of them. For him it’s akin to opening a new book just to get that ‘new book’ smell. Judge not lest you be judged, in theory and reality #SisterhoodUnite #ad

We were compensated for this post. Having said that, all thoughts are our own. I judged someone on social media one. It was for the silliest of reasons too for someone who I never met, Renee Zellwegger. It was right after she appeared with a drastically different face, remember that? I was filled with righteous indignation about how her new look would do something or another causing harm to society and the tectonic plates underneath Oklahoma and California. A couple hours after I wrote it I took it down. Sure I had a right to judge her, just as she has a right to judge me; but, neither action would do any good, nor promote anything positive. Stop judging is one of the thoughts behind the #SisterhoodUnite campaign at Similac now. If you’ve got a positive story about your parent experience go there now and share it!

Get dirty with #MyFilthiestPlay and qualify to win a new Maytag Washer #ad

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Maytag for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Children are dirty, filthy little people that haven’t learned to avoid messes. Is it that they intentionally seek out messy situations or are they simply playing with reckless abandon and we adults are the ones who need to get dirtier?  A valid argument could be made for either case. Either way if you have children they’ll have laundry that gets stained with all manner of grass, dirt, gunk or other stuff. If you have boys their clothing will get stained beyond recognition in their attempt to change the original color from whatever to ‘dirt’. Parents can get the last laugh by participating in the #MyFilthiestPlay contest  from Maytag laundry and sharing some truly filth, in a good way, moments.
