If you have children between the ages of 3-10 Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta is one of the must-visit places in Atlanta. We were skeptical of our younger children going there, but there is a large DUPLO area, an even bigger block pit and a big area play structure where they can climb, run and get their silly’s out. Every time we go there we easily spend three hours with the kids wanting to stay longer and them sleeping very well that night. On Augusts 15 and 16 Legoland is having an event highlighting Ninjago Airjitzu Flyers.
Families can learn to build an Airjitzu Flyer and watch it soar through the air like a Spinjitzu Master taking flight. Once assembled, kids can practice flying their own Airjitzu Flyers on the “fly-high-towers” and take their place at the “trick-it-area.” LEGO Ninjago Weekend is perfect for all ninja master builders in the making! The special event is happening August 15, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday, August 16 10 a.m. -7 p.m.
Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta is broken out into a couple different zones. One of the zones is a revolving area that currently has a Star Wars LEGO exhibit in there. It has three different scenes, all of which have moving ships and detail that confirm the Master Builder’s talent.
Outside of that room is a much bigger room with an interactive night/day mock up of Atlanta. All of the buildings that make up Atlanta are there with moving lights, a baseball stadium and if you look closely a couple crashed Star Wars ships on the city streets.
Once you leave that area the free building starts, there’s a ride, LEGO Master Builders, race tracks for your creations, a 4-D movie and the play area. This is also the region where the Airjitzu Flyers will be having their builds and practice flight sessions. The Airjitzu Flyers are for ages 6 and up, they operate by using the classic rip cord to pull the helicopter blades around. We had an Evil Kenivel toy that operated using that same method; I wish I still had that.
Parking is free and Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta is located on the Third Floor of Phipps Plaza.
