Dragon Con is an institution Labor Day weekends. It’s more than an Atlanta thing. Each Labor Day tens of thousands of science fiction & comic fans, zombies, Whovians, Disneyites, Trekkies and more gather in Atlanta. For Dragon Con 2014 over 62,000 fans packed the downtown Atlanta area for all lots of shows, seminars and of course the Dragon Con Parade. (more photos after the jump)
This parade was massive. It lasted almost 90 minutes and for the most part was very kid friendly. There was a 5 year old next to me that got a bit freaked out when the horror folks came through. However, I showed the photos to my wife and she got a bit freaked out too.
The costumes in the Dragon Con Parade are realistic, creative and otherworldly. Despite the incredibly large crowd watching the parade everyone we encountered was extremely nice. There were lots of families who were in the parade also.
On the train that morning we were talking with a family of Ghostbusters, chemical elements, home- made costumes and more. Many of these families had been participants in the parade since their child was born-for them it’s a family affair and a tradition.
