Ordering flowers from BloomNation, an ikebana style flower delivery

There’s a lot going on in that headline, let me explain.  I was asked to do a review for BloomNation.  BloomNation has a variety of floral services, from the standard dozen roses to intricate works of art from flower artisans.  Ikebana is the Japanese term for ‘floral design’ and usually focuses much more on the art, than the flowers. 

Women can be complicated.  They want a surprise.  They don’t want a surprise.  My wife doesn’t like flowers, yet any husband knows, in her heart of hearts that if a nice floral package were to be delivered to her work it’s a great thing.

1.  Her co-workers would see it and be jealous.
2. She could be having a bad day and these flowers could really improve things.
3. The person that she doesn’t like a couple cubes down has an allergy to flowers.

Ordering at BloomNation was simple.  I just entered the zip code of the delivery address and up popped a couple of florists to choose from.  You can sort them by prize, popularity, name, flower type, style, color or occasion.

Another good thing about ordering flowers from BloomNation is that I could just type out the card for the flowers.  I didn’t have to dictate any sappy love poem to some slack jawed teen.  It was my own private, floral inspired prose to my bride, and in this case, that’s a metaphor.

Once I ordered things went swimmingly until the morning my wife was supposed to go to the office.  She woke up with the bad cold I had over the weekend, cursed germs.  I called BloomNation and postponed the order for two days, easy peasy.

The florists from BloomNation all do have their own look.  Some of the designs are simple ‘jar of flowers’.  But others are much more in the style of ikebana; it all depends on what you’re looking for.  The entrepreneur in me digs BloomNation because it supports local businesses. You’re ordering from a national template, while looking at the exact local designs that they’re making in the flower shop down the road.   Plus there is no ‘service fee’ that some places will hit you up with when you have them delivered.
