Dr. Seuss provides fond memories for everyone. While the characters that provided that memory may change or be different for certain people, the memory is always pleasant. Dr. Seuss Fun Machine combines physical play of old school games with the interactive experience of tablet games. The app is free to download and doesn’t necessarily need the game tiles to be played, but is much more enjoyable if you have a combination of the two.
The game tiles feature the Lorax, Horton, The Cat and other classic Seuss characters. You use the game tiles in conjunction with what you see on the app. There are three different games that you can play that challenge children’s matching/recall abilities, matching speed and a guessing game.
All I had to do was give a group of children my iPad and game tiles, open the app, show them the buttons for the three games and they were at it. The children quickly explained to me how each game was played and proceeded to stay on the floor for the next 45 minutes. They only got up because it was time to eat.
Our group of children, aged 5 to 11 all loved Dr. Seuss Fun Machine. The eldest child quickly conquered the games, while the others, aged 5, 7 and 9 took turns playing different games and having fun. Another benefit of the game is its compact nature, making it a great fit for road trips or car games. It was also interesting to a wide age range of kids, which is very rare for a game. The game is appropriate for ages 3 and up and can be played by 1-4 people.
The app is free to download and the only downside of the game is that it’s only out for the iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
We received a complimentary copy of Dr. Seuss Fun Machine and downloaded the app to our phone. All thoughts are our own. While playing this the dog ate a bone. If my poetry gets any worse my wife will leave me alone.
