Time flies at Brookaven Cherry Blossom Festival

We were compensated for this post. All thoughts are our own. Oh Sakura, you spoil us. Cherry Blossom season is short-so get out and take advantage of these magical light pink flowers. They’ll be gone from trees before you know it. Take this time now to plan ahead and put the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival on your calendar for 2018. The 2017 Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival ended and it’s one that is incredibly family friendly, it’s also dog friendly, has live music, great food and some special surprises that only Atlanta can bring.

We were a bit surprised when they said that it was dog friendly. Those festivals are rare and usually only reserved for the dog crowd. The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival is the exception to that rule (probably designed by cats….) and I’m happy to report that every dog I encountered was leashed and on their best behavior. The Pet World area had acrobatic dogs of all sort; running and jumping whilst under complete control due to their training. This is definitely an area that you’ll want to check out.

For us one of the greatest areas was the Classic Car Show. We’re not a gear head by any stretch of the imagination. However, looking at these classic cars, admiring the details and chatting with the owners was one of the high points. These owners love to talk history, the time periods that their cars were produced, pop culture and hot rod talk. Even if you don’t like cars you’ll like seeing these vehicles and being in awe of their shadow.

The Children’s Village had the largest dino-slide we’ve ever seen. It was basically a larger than real-life T-Rex head that kids could climb up and then slide down his back side. There was also face painting, jumpies, people in costume and more that would delight kids to squeals who are 8 and younger.

Parking is always something to consider at festivals and it was quite simple to navigate at the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival. Up and down the main street, before Blackburn Park, you’ll see signs pointing you where you can park. From there they have shuttles that will run to and from the festival area. However, on the way back we decided to walk and it was a very pleasant .40 mile walk in the shade.

The Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival is one that you want to earmark for sure when it comes around again. Check their website for complete details as to what’s happening.
