Dog Days barking in theaters on August 8

We were compensated for this post-all thoughts are our own. We’re an animal house. My wife married into a house that had two cats and two dogs. As she ingrained herself into those that already lived with me they learned to tolerate and protect her. It was more complex for the dogs. One of them continued his lazy dog ways, while the other one immediately warmed up to her and became her steadfast defender, even though she had three legs-more on that in a moment. For people and homes that understand dogs, for my dog people or for those that simply want a safe, entertaining film for the family they can check out Dog Days, arriving in theaters on August .

Dog Days is an ensemble comedy that follows the lives of multiple dogs and the humans that take care of them. Eventually the humans start to encounter dogs who know other dogs and the lives of the two legged beings starts to change. They meet people, discover things, find new emotions or realize things that they didn’t think were so important, but really are. Think a more dog-centered, kid friendly version of Love Actually and you’ve got a great idea of Dog Days.

Dog Days is only in movie theaters on August 8. It’s important to point out that these aren’t talking dogs. The conversation is all human based, but as any dog owner will agree, the emotions go back and forth between humans and dogs. You dog people know the deal.

The cast in Dog Days is an ensemble deal upon itself. Nina Dobrev, Vanessa Hudgens, Finn Wolfhard, Eva Longoria, Tig Notaro and many more are the humans that build the vocal cords that present the film. This is live action, PG goodness that the family can enjoy. That’s a rare thing for the family to see together. It’s a feel-good film that simply aspires to make audience feel good without heavy overtones. And judging by the reviews of the film so far they’ve succeeded.

Dog Days opens in theaters on August 8 and is rated PG for some mild rude or suggestive content. Bonus: the actors walk the walk as one of the dogs featured in the film is the actual pet that belongs to Nina Dobrev.

Now, back to Abby, the three-legged black flat coat retriever that I had adopted prior to when my then fiancé, moved in with me. My fiancé was familiar with the two cats and the one dog, but Abby was new since she’d last seen me. When she re-entered my life all of the animals tolerated her, but Abby barked whenever she tried to speak her human sounds.

“Have you realized that Abby barks whenever I try to say something”, she asked. Truthfully, I hadn’t noticed, but after that I did realize that Abby barked whenever she started to talk. As time went on, Abby became the same chilled out dog that I loved until one day when she and my wife became inseparable. Wherever my wife went, so went Abby the dog and that was the situation for the next nine months.

It wasn’t until a couple weeks after we noticed that happening that we discovered why Abby was following my wife. Abby, with her keen sense of smell had noticed something that mere humans wouldn’t discover until something was missing 28 days later. And then nine months later Abby had someone new in the house to love. Dogs rock and Dog Days looks like just the kind of kid friendly, late summer entertainment that’ll do the trick.
