March Madness is almost over. It’s almost over for the basketball games. For the microbes that exist around us, try to make us sick or are otherwise disgusting it’s just another day. Giant Microbes is having their own Final 4 that puts bad against worse in a fun, educational and health conscious way for any age to learn.
For example, one of the regional playoff for the Final Four is Water Bear or Diarrhea. We all know about diarrhea, but what the heck is Water Bear? A Water Bear is the common name for a Tardigrade, a disgusting looking creature that is everywhere. They can live in cold environments, volcanoes and are most likely near you-or on you now.
The other region pits the Zombie Virus against Chlamydia. We were torn on this one. On the one side, the Chlamydia Giant Microbe is much cuter; however, the Zombie Virus is much more devious looking and a real thing. The Zombie Virus can’t possibly be a real thing you say? It’s scientifically called Pithovirus Sibericum and the real thing looks remarkably close to the Giant Microbe version.
Voting in the Giant Microbes March Madness is real STEM learning, fun, goofy and only takes a couple of minutes. Plus, bonus: the Giant Microbes champion receives $100 in product.
This would be a great gift for our veterinarian; I thought when I first saw their website. Then I thought the school would be better, no-definitely our cool pediatrician. Giant Microbes makes the unseen physical and genuinely makes kids curious about what’s going on around them. Plus, there’s lots to ‘celebrate’ year-round, as April is STD Awareness Month, I sense this one is geared towards the college crowd, but there’s still lots to learn, even in plush form.
