Caveboy, the adventures of caveboy, young reader, bloom & read

Caveboy knows its audience and clubs them into fun submission

Do you know of a boy who between the ages of 5 and 8? The Caveboy book series from Bloom & Read has your number. Bloom & Read is an imprint from Bloomsbury that is aimed at newly independent readers. These are the young readers that are beyond sight words and reading chapter books, but want to read longer chapter books that make them feel like the big kids they are. The Adventures of Caveboy and Caveboy is Bored! are just the ticket for those first or second grade boys that want to read.

Caveboy, the adventures of caveboy, young reader, bloom & read

This is reading that any parent would approve of. There aren’t any bodily humor jokes, a la Captain Underpants. The books teach kids valuable lessons and the text is such that first or second grade kids will be able to navigate it by themselves.

Our Kindergarten aged boy wasn’t keen on having Caveboy read to him. However he has a sight word ability of approximately 20 words, so this is a bit too early for him. Additionally, the chapters are about 22 pages long, they do have large text and lots of illustrations, but those long chapters intimidate him.

If he were a year older he’d be knee deep into The Adventures of Caveboy. It’s jammed with a majority of sight words that a first grade student will be able to read and the illustrations will hook in those younger than they are. All they need to do is look at the cover to The Adventures of Caveboy to realize that fun drawings of a caveboy with his club in the air, plus two age appropriate beasts behind him is enjoyable.

The Adventures of Caveboy, as well as Caveboy is Bored! and sequels are part of the Read & Bloom imprint on Bloomsbury. Describe an early elementary school aged student and they’ve got a book for them. This series is just for the boys. Sure there are some girl characters and young readers that like reading funny stories about clumsy kids who mean well will enjoy it too.
