Our steakhouse, a story of love, power and good taste with Idahoan® Foods #Ad

I have partnered with Life of Dad and Idahoan® Foods for this campaign, but my opinions are my own.All I wanted was a relaxing night, a couple moments to create my own steakhouse vibe and I’m not alone in wanting this. In a recent survey a staggering 92% of parents wish it was easier to create that steakhouse experience at home. I want that and sometimes it happens without a hitch. We tried some Idahoan® Premium Steakhouse® Potato Soups, they’re mega simple to prepare (just add water), jammed with real red Idaho® potatoes, as well as, real potato skins and other goodies to pump up your taste buds. My reigning title of #KingOfSoup would not stand untested and I need your assistance. Sometimes a kitchen kingdom has a servant king, while other times needing a warrior king who brings a knife, as well as a large spoon for the textured soup.

Scene: Just as I’m starting my steakhouse on the first floor. “Honey, there’s smoke up here”, she said. I had a millisecond of doubt, but then looking in the kitchen I saw half a foot of smoke coming though the AC vent I knew she was serious. Granted I was cooking, but all I was doing was boiling water.

In theory this should’ve been the easiest dinner ever. However, an aged bathroom vent fan on the second floor flared up and spread smoke all over the house. I wanted an authentic steakhouse vibe, true, but the smoke house effect that our abode was assisting in was not appreciated. It did, however, put the authenticity of the proposed dinner over the top.  It wasn’t needed though as the potato chunks, real green broccoli bits, real cheese and more did all that was required for us to really dig into the steakhouse at home feeling.

Thankfully the firefighters didn’t want any of our soup. To be fair, they spent all of their time in the attic and bathroom, except for that one guy who went into the garage to realize that our breakers in that room had popped. And he might have snuck a taste as the Idahoan® Premium Steakhouse® Cheddar Broccoli Potato Soup was simply waiting on the stove to be appreciated.

Firefighter fun fact: the Flir cameras that they use to detect heat spots are the same types of cameras used by ghost hunters.

Even during the course of a house fire we managed to create our Premium Steakhouse® Soup. Even in the smoke filled midst of a minor house fire, I’m the #KingOfSoup. All you have to do is boil 4 cups of water, mix in one pouch, reduce heat, wait 5 minutes and then remove from heat for 5 minutes. Top with some cheese, bacon bits, crackers or what else you might need to get the authentic plate of soup that you might pay $12 for at a fancy restaurant.

Literally, at a restaurant recently someone I was with ordered a bowl of soup that wasn’t half as thick, chunky or aromatic as what we had in our dining room.

The #KingOfSoup can’t take the kingdom for granted and they don’t need to have loose lips. “This is great soup sweetie” or “What-you chopped up red potatoes and slow cooked this all day for me”? Yes, yes I did.

If you visit my kingdom tomorrow I just might have Creamy Potato, Loaded Potato or Three Cheese Chipotle too. As a cooking bonus it’s possible I’ll combine some of the Idahoan® Premium Steakhouse® Potato Soups to a fully cooked potato for a side that all but screams to be the main course.

At the end of the day, our kingdom is OK. Just a bit of smoke smell, crispy insulation and a bath fan that’s blackened. All of that sounds like a description for our steakhouse, minus the insulation and burned out fan. Your steakhouse will be drama free, so go forth and attempt to stake your claim to be the #KingOfSoup.
