Hey, we’re a Denny’s Ambassador and were compensated. All thoughts are our own. Take Facebook Live, Denny’s, free swag, their hit web series “The Grand Slams”, add more talking Pancake and you’ve got something to really flip over. It was an interactive chat with Pancake, the sometimes smarmy, perhaps a little vain, entertaining-and now fluffier flour treat from Denny’s. Pancake was all digital, but the humor and quips were in real time and a great example of creative outreach without the knife and fork.
For about 25 minutes Pancake answered questions in real time on Denny’s Facebook page. He was witty, charming, had great things to say about bacon (who doesn’t?) and gave away leggings, shirts and lots more free Denny’s swag. It was a virtual puppet show with jokes and lots of folks watching on Facebook Live getting door prizes.
All of this stemmed from The Grand Slams, an online campaign of funny shorts that has generated 62 million views since 2014.
In reality the 25 minute Denny’s Facebook Live presentation was accomplished by four people who were working the animation, Pancake’s voice and prize giveaways-all in real time. A cool Denny’s tee, scented candles, eau du Pancake body spray, skateboard cover and rock steady pancake leggings were some of the prizes that were given away.
Will it happen again? We suspect yes, it was great goofy fun and gave hundreds of people a chance to win some very limited edition Denny’s merchandise. They gave away so much that you’ll need to dig into their Facebook page to see when the next Live event is. Just watch the Denny’s Facebook page to see if they’ll have another Facebook Live event.
