Our top 9 second tier children’s television shows on Netflix #StreamTeam

Hey there, we’re part of the StreamTeam for Netflix and received product for this post. All thoughts are our own and these shows really do rock. Our children are 4 and 6. Sometimes they watch television for relaxation and sometimes it’s done because I need them to sit and be quiet for a predetermined amount of time while I make dinner, finish a phone call or simply need a buffer for a moment. These are 9 of the children’s television shows on Netflix that we use as our go-to when we need that moment of zen.

These don’t include the obvious choices like The Clone Wars, Mighty Machines, Phineas and Ferb and Curious George. We’ll also try not to include television shows that we’ve previously highlighted, because variety is the spice of life, isn’t it?

Our top 9 second tier children’s television shows on Netflix

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

It’s Hasbro’s highest rated series and teaches kids 5-7 years old various lessons about sharing, friendship and more….with horses.

WordWorld

WordWord is a place where the words come to life, usually in the form of farm friendly critters who try to solve simple problems.  The dog’s body is spelled out using “D” “O” and “G”, as are all of the other animals. It’s a very clever show aimed at ages two and up with each episode at 13 minutes long.

Wild Kratts

Wild Kratt is just under half an hour of educational, animal oriented fun. They’ve got apps, books, a live action show and cartoon to teach children about team work and animals.

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

You only watch this for the kids. That is what you’ll tell yourself. In reality Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated is a funny, action packed cartoon that both of our kids enjoy. It respects its history and tells an entirely new story.

The Super Hero Squad

The Avengers by any other name, as The Super Hero Squad, Wolverine, Thor, Iron Man and others fight evil on a very kid friendly level. It’s a great entry point for kids to learn about the characters in a way that is OK for them.  At 22 minutes the show is also good for an extended period of TV time when they need it.

Justin Time

Justin dreams and when he does travels the world with his friends, learns about new cultures and has fun. Where do I get this job?

Fishtronaut

This is such a fun and goofy show. A fish, wearing a water-suit travels on land to solve mysteries, have fun on land and protect the environment.

Larva

Larva is a disgusting show that kids 2 and up will love. It’s about two larva that eat, sleep and fight. Sometimes the big one uses his mucus to swing each other around or to grab things. As an adult I find it horrible, but the kids absolutely love it and there really isn’t anything bad about it. It’s rated G, has no dialogue and each show is 20 minutes, broken down into 3-seven minute episodes.

These are just a couple of our go-to children’s shows on Netflix. Certainly there are more shows and some that are on your list. What do you keep in your back pocket when the kids need to watch something?
