Monty Python and the Holy Grail at Fox Theatre with Terry Jones

Terry Jones, a founding member of Monty Python will be in Atlanta on Tuesday, September 8 to attend a viewing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail at Fox Theater. If you’re a fan of Monty Python, let that sink in for a moment. Jones will also be doing a Q&A after the film with special surprises.  This is ridiculously awesome.

The first time I say Holy Grail was 1985. The film was shown late at night and I programmed our VCR to record it. I still have that video, although it’s been replaced by the DVD, which is great, but missing the extras and bonus content that I would love to see in such a landmark film.  Thankfully, the 40^th Anniversary of the film is marking a new edition with all of the interviews, extras, rubber farm animals and catapults that the previous one was missing.

But back to my point, even as a 16 year old kid I loved that film. I loved it the first time I saw it and it only got better every time. My parents didn’t like it. None of my friends liked it, much less knew about Monty Python aside from being some strangely animated show that was on PBS occasionally.

Terry Jones is in Atlanta as part of Dragoncon. He’s one of the featured speakers at this event that celebrates fandom, film, sci-fi, cosplay and so much more.  Monty Python and the Holy Grail starts at 7:30 PM at the Fox Theater. Regular tickets are $10, $15 and $20. There are also a limited number of VIP tickets ($75) that include premium seating, as well as, the opportunity for a photo and autograph with Mr. Jones.

This is his first appearance in Atlanta and his latest film Absolutely Anything premiered in London last month.   Also appearing will be Kim Johnson, author of The First 200 Years of Monty Python as he and Jones answer questions from the audience. The giveaway is for tickets to the Fabulous Fox the night of the film. It’s great for folks that live in Atlanta or will be in town for Dragoncon.
