I have partnered with Life of Dad and Milk Life for this promotion. I received compensation for my participation, but my mojo for Milk isn’t just due to that stylish white stache I got. June is a great month for milk. Not only is it National Dairy Month, but The Great American Milk Drive is happening this month. That’s a lot of potentially cheese activities happening, but it’s all for a great cause and here’s how you can support it, with a contest a la Thunderdome and a gaggle of guy bloggers.
So you know that milk does a body good, that’s low hanging nutrition fruit. It’s jammed with 9 nutrients and packed with protein. Milk is also one of the most requested items at food banks across the country. Wait, people in need can get milk at food banks? Yeah, I didn’t know that either, but because it’s a perishable item almost nobody donates a full unopened gallon. On average food banks are only able to provide less than one gallon of milk to one person each year.
Now during summer, when there’s no school, or assisted lunch programs that need heats up. Those kids are missing some of the nutrients that they would’ve otherwise gotten in the breakfast or lunch programs at school.
Yikes, we go through at least two gallons a week in our house. Our boys learned about milk at our local children’s museum. They’ve got a faux cow that kids can milk and other ways for kids to hands on learn about the hows and whys of milk.
To help remedy the need for milk America’s dairy farmers and milk companies have joined to bring you a very moving experience. For as little at 5 bucks you can deliver a gallon of milk to a family in your community through the Feeding America network of food banks.
This is where Thunderdome and the gaggle of guy bloggers enter the fray. Life of Dad has organized regional groups all over the United States. The north, south, east and west are made up of five guys each, but the only team that concerns you is the south.
Each team will try to drive donations through a devoted link. At midnight on June 22 the team that has raised the most money to The Great American Milk Drive will also have a donation of $500 from Life of Dad sent there too.
See, a little explanation and a couple dairy puns (I was milking it a bit…) here is where we see the payoff between four groups of guys entering an online portal of calcium, protein filled competition all for a great cause.
Also on June 16 The Great American Milk Drive is holding an online event all day using #MilkDrive. They, along with our nation’s dairy farmers will make the gallons of milk rain across America. They’re going to match up to $10,000 in donations on that day. #MilkDrive on June 16-but wait, to ensure that it’s a bovinely excellent day, Life of Dad will also be having a twitter party that night at 8PM ET.
How can you help?

Donate. Well that was easy.
Support one of the other teams, like the north, east or west. (Do this only in the dire case that you can’t support the south)
