Merry Maids Mother’s Day Program is simple, for all and appreciated #ad

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts are our own. And we clean, yes we do. True story: I was sitting on the playground today with a handful of moms. I asked them what they wanted for Mother’s Day.  Granted I was crowd sourcing for affirmation because my Mother’s Day gifts are already locked down. However, after speaking with the moms they let me know that I was on the right track and that many of their husbands weren’t.

A recent study done for the Merry Maids Mother’s Day Program and it revealed that 67% of moms say the best Mother’s Day present would be to have someone clean the house for them. 1/3 of the moms said that hiring someone to clean the house is more of a need than a want. Those stats smelled funny to me, so that was the logic for me asking the moms on the playground. They backed up the first part of those stats with all of them that answered telling me that they simply wanted some help cleaning the house.

Dads, Mother’s Day is really that simple. Help clean the house.  Bonus: have someone else clean the house. Merry Maids produced some cards to help you claim credit if you’d like. They’re akin to the “One hour of Joey love” coupon from the Friends episode.

As you’ll see from the photos we got most of the mojos doing the work needed to present the coupons to mom. We got our kids in on the cleaning action. Actually, we’re really quite lucky to have kids that (for now) like to help out cleaning the house. One thing that helps us is to do it semi-regularly and to pay them for it. When they get older some amount of cleaning will be expected, but for now, since they’re little guys we need some motivation to help them.

So if you’re cleaning on your own-and dads, you really should be helping out on a consistent basis, it helps to vacuum slowly. By vacuuming slowly the machine will vibrate more carpet fibers, which shake loose the dust and then get’s sucked up.

Parents with kids in diapers know that the trash can is often the smelliest part of cleaning. Don’t forget to clean the actual trash can. Even when you use a plastic bag spills will happen and odors will stick to the inner surfaces. We get our 5 year old to remove his trash bag, but that’s as far as he’s going for now in that department. He won’t go near his younger brother’s trash.

Even though we clean on a regular basis, we gave mom her coupons for our work. The kids had a fun time doing it and they treated it like money, but they still asked for payment or special treats when they finished.

Our house cleaning has evolved since the time that we accomplished it using a leaf blower. Have a great Mother’s Day! It’s simple to be a Merry Maid for the day, really, it’s simple and our impromptu focus group affirmed their results for us. What are you doing for mom this Mother’s Day? If you use any of the coupons we’d love to see photos of kids cleaning or clean houses. You can post em to @MerryMaids on twitter, their Facebook page on to their website.
