We received copy of the book to review. All thoughts are our own and really, the creative team behind this is off the chain. The growth of young adult fiction was always missing a large market. While some of the YA books crossed into this category, there hasn’t, until now, been one that started in the category specifically aimed at this group. Stan Lee is legendary in the comic world as co-creator of Spider-Man and The Avengers among others; and has teamed up with two other stars in comics to create The Zodiac Legacy.
Steven Lee is an American teen on vacation in Hong Kong. He’s out on a guided tour of the city when he notices something strange about their tour guide. Jazmine, as he’ll come to know her, mysteriously disappears at the same time Steven hears some loud yelling from behind an exhibit that’s closed to the public.
It turns out that the closed exhibit is hiding some ancient pools that are filled with the powers of the Chinese Zodiac. Jazmine is part of a group that’s trying to discover and use these powers for good, but the Vanguard have found the pools first.
During the initial battle Steven receives the Tiger powers that give him super strength and fast reflexes. With his new powers he manages to save his two new friends and retreat to their ship where they can find the rest of the Zodiac powers before the Vanguard do.
In this case it really is just a ship, a regular ship that travels on water. Even though The Zodiac Legacy has comic book pedigree behind it the action and real world happenings are all based (for now) on Earth in various countries.

I’m about half way through and am really enjoying the book. The reading level and material is appropriate for ages 8 and up. It’s thicker than most YA books that an 8 year old would read, but accessible and a good jump up from Wimpy Kids. Being that it is a YA book there are plenty of illustrations, but they happen at the beginning of each chapter.
Boys would like the book more than girls, but not by too much. Jazmine is strong and so far, has just slightly less print time than Steven. It’s much like Hermione in another popular YA series that attracted girls as much as boys in which the characters traded time in the spotlight
This giveaway is for a hardcover copy of The Zodiac Legacy: Convergence, a wall clock with the Chinese Zodiac and a pack of custom Zodiac Legacy temporary tattoos. For kicks you can also find your own sign using The Zodiac Legacy Generator.
