Alilo is an interactive, story and music gadget for crawlers to toddlers

Find someone who has never seen anything Japanese looking.  You know what I mean.  Certain products from Japan have a look.  Alilo has that look.  I see Alilo and it is kawaii incarnate.  Alilo is a simple device that can entertain crawlers and toddlers in a variety of ways.  It plays music, tells stories, sings nursery rhymes and can record personal messages from you.

Alilo Buddy Buny - A2 09

Alilo looks like a bunny.  Its feet are rounded just enough so that he rocks back and forth when you push him.  His ears are soft rubber that smaller children can chew on, because you know they will.   The ears also light up and change colors.

Alilo’s mouth is a microphone that can record greetings or things to your children.  For example we recorded, “Be nice to your brother.  Are you being nice to your brother?”  So far it’s not working.  Alilo is working just fine mind you; it plays back my audio when the kids push the microphone button, followed by play.  It’s just that sometimes the brothers don’t get along and I tried blaming other things to no avail.

On the front of your Alilo you’ll see a couple buttons that do other things.  It can tell stories, play music, sing nursery rhymes, change the lights, pause, fast forward or go back.  Its bunny ears are soft plastic and OK to chew on.  They also light up and change and shift colors from ear to ear.

The Alilo is an interactive toy for kids 1-5.  Our oldest likes listening to the music and stories while our youngest likes going between all of the functions and changing the colors of the ears.  In a way this is a bridge between no tablet or computer skills and playing with them.  It makes kids use their imagination while providing buttons to push on a gizmo that is cute, kawaii even.

The lithium polymer battery life lasts for five hours.  For us the most challenging part of the Alilo was figuring out how to turn it on.   His tail is the answer to that.  Just turn his tail clockwise and your Alilo will chime on to whatever song, story or recorded greeting was on when you turned it off.   There are a couple different types of Alilos available and come in pink, blue, red or yellow.

Their prices range between $59.99 and $69.99 and the device is very durable.  Ours has been dropped off of the table numerous times and hasn’t slowed down at all.  The music that Alilo plays won’t do much to entertain the parents, but the device will certainly entertain crawlers to toddlers for a very long time.
