Moms With Apps tips for gifting and twitter party on 12/3 at 12PM ET #Ad

This post is brought to you by The Motherhood and Moms With Apps. All opinions are my own.  Apps are the new gift card to children who learn from tablets. Parents want the apps to have value, not be a waste of their money and to do what the child needs to accomplish from their tablet.  We’ve mentioned before about how Moms With Apps shortcuts the search criteria for parents looking for the correct app.  You can search by device, age range, subject and more.  But, how should you handle your app quest when it’s being used as a gift?

Think relevance

Are they into trucks, dinosaurs, dolls, science, math or letters?   Search for the app and its interest around what your child is into.  Up to a certain age parents can steer what our child’s interests are.  When you’re giving the app or credit for said app help the younger ones decide what they want.

Think location

Is this an app that need wi-fi or can work on its own?  You can search for those criteria in Moms with Apps.  Having taken dozens of trips to Hilton Head from Atlanta we can testify that you want apps that do not need wi-fi.

Think long term

Those pesky free sample apps are sometimes not worth downloading.  The apps are too short or have pop ups that urge you to ‘buy the full app!’  I do not want any ads in my apps, that’s also a search item when you use Moms With Apps.

There are lots of benefits to searching for apps using Moms With Apps.  It’s a free site that helps parents choose the right apps for your kids regardless of where they are in school or what they’re learning.  There are more than 280 developers and 885 apps that you can drill into to see if it’s what you are looking for.

The #MomsWithApps twitter party is Wednesday, December 3 at 12 noon ET.  They’ll be giving away Visa gift cards and sharing some of the information that was discovered from their nationwide survey of parents, technology and apps.  You need to RSVP here.

Good karma, tweet this:

Are there any go-to tips that you have when it comes to selecting apps for your children?  Any technology concerns or stories to share?  Maybe you just want to win some prizes-that’s totally OK, really it’s the holiday season and we could all use some extra cash.  Regardless, the #MomsWithApps twitter party, 12/3 at 12 PM ET, see you there!
