November is known for Thanksgiving, Movember and now Dinovember. This is only the second year of Dinovember. It started out with Refe & Susan Tuma placing out their child’s plastic dinosaurs around the house doing various playful or mischievous things. We first caught wind of them on their Facebook page and their first book, What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night is out now with 61 images of awesome.
What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night is a fun, page turner of a book. You’ll like the next photo more than the last. That is until you look at the book again and notice some of the dinos in the background that are being goofy.
As enjoyable as the pictures in the book are you’ll also love reading the introduction. Normally we skip right over the introduction, but this being a picture book, well, we decided to read it. It’s all about how the family started Dinovember, how the children reacted to it, their biggest dino-mess and other things that fans of the Facebook page wondered.
The concept of our children’s toys coming to life is nothing new. This is like the Elf on the Shelf, except with dinosaurs and a bigger mess. It’s the images and the thought of your child wondering and thinking about the dinosaurs playing and causing chaos at night that makes this book so much fun. Even as an adult I want to go downstairs and see scenes of the dinosaurs frozen in time as they’re climbing our blinds or making cookies.
It’s tempting to call What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night a fabulous toilet book-and it is, but that’s not an insult. This is a book that you’ll want to share, so the bathroom is a logical location; just be certain that others don’t keep it. You’ll find yourself looking at the images over and over, which could lead to a very long wait for the toilet. Keep the book in the living or bed room like we do. What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night was just optioned for a movie too, which makes perfect sense.
