Drive an exotic sports car on a racetrack near Atlanta, really

Cars are expensive.  Exotic sports cars are even more expensive.  Driving an exotic sports car is something that I, along with most of my friends have wanted to do.  As most (see: none) of our friends have an Aston Martin, McLaren, Lamborghini or Ferrari that they’ll let us rip wide open I guess it’s up to Xtreme Xperience to put me in the driver’s seat.

Xtreme Xperience is a travelling road show that brings exotic sports cars to a market near you.  They’ll set up shop at a local race track and it’s up to you to decide if you really want to drive that car that makes you drool when you see it on the highway or in dealer.

At our local stop Xtreme Xperience is coming to Atlanta Motorsports Park.  The track looks like this.

 

I know, my jaw is on the floor.  So, I get to drive a car that I can’t even afford the insurance on around this course for a couple laps?!  November 6-8 at Atlanta Motorsports Park you’ll take 3 laps around this course.  You can reserve your spot in Dawsonville here or look ahead for your location.

Each lap is 2 miles.  It contains 16 turns, has a longest straightaway of 1200 feet and features elevation changes.  Stop drooling.  Here is the video of the course in question.

Your local course is probably as cool.  This is really a once in a lifetime experience.   The day starts with a short course about racing fundamentals.  Your race car instructor (yes, really) will be sitting in the passenger seat next to you.  Then drive, drive fast.  Your instructor will tell you how to drive faster.  I’m assuming it’s not as simple as put your foot down on the accelerator.  Actually I know that because I’m a slow driver.

It’ll probably be more along the line of “just feel the car”, “know the tires” and “lean into it”.  In my mind I’ll be screaming “I AM IN A FERRARI….2 OF THESE=MY HOUSE (please don’t wreck….back off of the gas…there you go….) WHOOOOO”.  Your inner monologue might be different, but your excitement will almost certainly be the same.

Xtreme Xperience does this every year and is a must visit for any Mancation, special day out or just to prove to yourself that you really can’t drive as well as Vin Diesel’s stunt double.
