As a camera guy who is relatively athletic I really admire action shots from quality cameras. It’s such an art that I hesitate to call them gadgets, but they are electronics and more often than not that will be the default description. I see the images and videos from the latest GoPro cameras and they’re more than a gadget. It’s a quality, action oriented camera that moves with you where things are really moving.
Check out that image. They are zipping down a water slide and the subject is in perfect focus while the peripheral images, like the trees and water is blurred. An image like that is challenging to get in any circumstance, much less when you’re both the subject of the photo and the photographer.
The new lineup of GoPro cameras consists of the GoPro HERO 4 Black, HERO 4 Silver and the HERO. The HERO shoots at 5 fps (frames per second) at 5 MP and video in 1080p30 resolution. The HERO 4 Silver shoots at 30 fps at 12 MP, a wide range of video shooting option and is the first GoPro to have a built-in touch display. The GoPro HERO 5 Black has all of those feature plus shoots video 2x faster, has a processor twice as fast and is the most advanced GoPro Camera ever.
Yikes, that’s a lot of photo gibberish to take in if you don’t understand what it all means. I know what most of it means and have purchased low grade action cameras in the past. They were awful.
In addition to have low resolution their interface when uploading was confusing, image quality poor and packaging was cheap. I used said cheap camera once and lost it in the ether of bad products after that.
With Christmas, Hanukah and the full-on holiday season coming up is a high quality camera on your list?
Sure the GoPro is an action camera that is famous for those death defying videos doing things on a bike or mountain that make your palms sweat. However, in thinking about it, even our own more, pedestrian physical activities would be awesome if they were documented in HD.
The bike ride near the beach? For us it’s Hilton Head, but your beach trail is just as awesome and photogenic.
Even video of me swimming, running or cycling on our local trails. That would be great to have it on film. It’s like the time I was cycling and saw a pack of deer, just chilling out eating. I got within 20 feet of them before they scampered off. That would’ve been a great thing to document.
As a tourist it would come in handy as a way to document new places. In my head I’m revisiting the places I’ve been and wondering what images I missed. What are the odds on GoPro sponsoring my families’ trip to Japan…(hoshii desu yo…) probably none, but we’ll have one when we visit.
We could use a GoPro HERO. It’s a digital quality camera that has on combat boots, while inside a kayak. Is it an action camera to document your daring adventures or a quality camera that can get rough when you need it? You decide.
this looks like a fun camera to have, I can only imagine the great action shots we’d get with it!
