I’m part of #OrangeTuesday campaign that Buy Costumes is doing this Halloween season. As part of that tour they’re going around the country speaking to schools and donating costumes. As I go back to my 7 year old self I see me loving the fact that various video game characters got me out of class and oh-our school gets about 75 free costumes for the students.
There are multiple ways that Buy Costumes is helping out local students, in addition to raising money for UNICEF this year.
- Children can raise money for UNICEF. They can set up an online fundraising page or ask for donations directly. Either way, a little goes a long way towards helping children around the world.
- Use the code TOT4UNICEF when you check out at Buy Costumes and 10% of your will be donated to UNICEF
- Just donate. There’s a page on the Buy Costumes page where folks can simply donate $1, $5 or $10 to UNICEF.
Philadelphia, you are the next to last stop on the Orange Tuesday Tour. Just follow the hashtag #OrangeTuesdayTour to get some great pictures of folks in costume in public, as well as, some storming discounts on costumes-plus a chance to win some! New York, #RockawayBeach, you’re the last stop on 10/31. Follow accordingly to win, have fun or end up in one of their videos.
When the tour stopped it Atlanta I saw them at a local school where they awarded LOTS of local students a dream costume. This particular school was chosen because they raised one of the highest amounts of cash during the previous year’s Trick or Treat that supported UNICEF’s mission.
All of the kids were quite surprised when they entered the room and a gaggle of super heroes and video game warriors came out of the side. It was a credit to their teachers that they sat still for any length of time during the presentation. Immediately when it was over the kids peppered the costumed heroes with all sorts of “who is your favorite villain” questions.
Life’s better in costume, isn’t it? Philly and New York you can watch #OrangeTuesdayTour to keep up with the fun and savings. If you’re not in those markets, there is still enough time before Halloween to get the costume of your dreams, if you hurry.
