Oh, suddenly it’s the middle of September and you’re starting to think about Halloween? Time goes by quickly, but this time of year seems it seems to be on treadmill for us. So, Halloween is just over a month away and you’re noodling some costume ideas…we’ve created some tips and trends for kids, adults and your parties from Buy Costumes.
For the adults you’ve got a great selection of Top 10 lists to choose from including Superhero, Zombie, Decades, Historical, Funny and Adult Disney Princesses. For the people that are offended, tired or bored of the sexy nurse these lists are a great starting point for some surprising reasons.
First off, I hear you on being tired of the sexy nurse or sexy vampire costume. You reach a point where looking too sexy is no longer a costume and merely a pretense to be half naked to attract the wrong attention and send the wrong message-unless that’s what you’re trying to accomplish.
To that end I’ll point the ladies to Flower Child Hippie or Discolicious from the Top 10 Decades. From the Historical Costumes check out Cleopatra, Medusa or if you want to be sexy, without being trampy, try the Roman Empress. Most of the Superhero costumes for ladies are awesome, but have the same short comings that the comics have by making them too sexy. Having said that, Wonder Woman, Catwoman and Black Widow are great, if you’re going to an adult party where attracting guys is the name of the game.
Ironically, almost all of the costumes under the Adult Disney Princess Costume Top 10 are really appropriate. All of them really family friendly except for that Tinker Bell, naughty little minx. Equally as surprising is that most of the costumes are OK for cosplay at conventions, if you want to take your costuming to the next level.
For the guys your costume options, just like our hairstyles, are numerous, simple and flexible. Take a look at Captain America (always a classic), any of the zombies, the 80’s rapper or Pilgrim Man.
For couples take a look at the Peanut Butter and Jelly or Bacon and Egg costumes. Both of which are cute, fun and rarely seen. Just have the guy in bacon or peanut butter keep his eyes in check when Tinker Bell comes around.
You need theme ideas for a party? Oh my, a dizzying array of options from frightening, Ghost White, masquerade, medieval, princesses and more. You can find all manner of supplies and accessories to dress up your place accordingly too. You can also divide that list according to interests, such as kids, etc.
So what are the overall Top 10? Captain America, Dorothy, Female Darth Vader, Joker, Black Widow and children’s Elsa are in there. I was a bit surprised that Guardians of the Galaxy weren’t in there. We went to Dragon Con recently and those costumes were everywhere and awesome.
If your dog wants in on the act then you can learn how to make your own spider dog costume. Buy Costumes also has lots of other pet themed costumes that your critter and get in on.
