I don’t want a box phone from the 70’s. However there is some tech from that era that still rocks, especially with a couple improvements. Electric Football is like that. That hum. The way that the players vibrated, that hum and the fun that you and your friends yelling at the game. Tudor Games has revamped Electric Football for a new age and the results are pretty cool.
The memories of your electric football game are vivid aren’t they? The metal game, the way that one edge was sharper than the others and, of course that hum when the game was turned on. The new electric football has players that can do different things and a battery operated on/off switch that allows you to get the game started.
Electric football was easy to assemble. One of the bigger new improvements are Invisibase Speed Cleats and Invisibase Strength Cleats. These are the bases that you put on the bottom of the football players. One of these cleats is a solid base while the other one consists of two separate tabs.
Put the solid cleat base on your football players and they’ll be stronger. When you put the two tab Speed Cleats on the other players they’ll move quicker. Put the Speed Cleats on the correct football player, like the Runner or the Sprinter and you’ve got a game on your hands. Be sure to put the cleats on in the correct direction as they allow the players to move forwards and backwards.
It did take us a moment to correctly use the Triple Threat Quarterback. They can also kick because they have a leg that moves back and forth. You really do ‘throw’ the ball. In this case the ball is a small piece of felt that is appropriately sized for your players. You should practice throwing the ball a couple of times because they throwthe ball much farther than you realize.
Now play the game. Electric Football is intended for ages 8 and up. They’ll need to be that old to have the dexterity to manipulate the players throwing or kicking the ball. The players make a difference too. Use them for their correct position and the game will be much more fun, allow for strategy and better movement.
Dads who grew up on Electric Football will love playing this with their older children. These kids are used to video games and such, so the feel of a real game may seem odd, old or slow to them. That is why you, the parent, need to show them how to play. It’s a task, I know. But once you remember how to play it they’ll enjoy playing it because it is real bonding time with you. The strategy, that hum, the unpredictable nature of the game and the real time together is something that a video game can’t ever reproduce.
