Big Blastin’ Rocket Raccoon is 10” of smack talking genetically modified plastic raccoon that moves when his gun fires. Press his leg or the button on this gun and his torso will shake forward while the gun lights up. This is a fun toy-and our kids love playing with it, but there is something about it that blurs my line between an action figure and collectible.
Mind you, there’s nothing wrong with either category. It’s an action figure because he really moves, rocks back and forth, but never tips over due to his tail touching the ground. He’s a collectible because he’s not physically interactive in that his hands are always on the gun and the figure is made of hard plastic.
Its price point is $29.99. You’ll find it on sale for around $23 at some stores or online. That’s not too high for an action figure or too low for a collectible.
At the end of the day we’re calling this an action figure that is unique and is all action. This is something that you want to-and need to take out of the box.
Once out of the box your Big Blastin’ Rocket Raccoon can be fired by the button on his leg or the one on the gun. When you press either button the gun will rotate with a red or green back light while taunting people.
The age on the toy is recommended for 4 and up. Ours are 3 and 5; both of them like playing with it and press one of the buttons multiple times a day. They’re not sure what to do with him and times and they can’t put him in any vehicles that they have, but there are other Guardians toys for that.
This is a weird toy that took us a while to figure it out, but is really fun and silly once you accept what it is. If your 7-9 year old saw Guardians of the Galaxy this would be a good toy for them. I know our kids are younger than that age, but they didn’t see the movie. If your younger kids, like ours, aren’t appropriate to see it, this toy is a good warm up act.
Side note: if you loved the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack but don’t want to purchase it simply do a search on Spotify. There is a playlist for all of the songs on the soundtrack and is a great holdover if you want to check it out or simply accept the commercials.
