Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light 2 is super simple & light-giveaway

Growing up my father used to say “you’re not holding your mouth right”, when I was trying to do something but not succeeding.  It was always a seemingly simple task that proved frustrating because it looked like it should be happening, but wasn’t.  Putting up a pack and play is like that, especially the middle bar that folds in half.  Enter the Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light 2.  Coming in at only 11 pounds it’s the lightest, easiest travel crib we’ve ever used.

A little clarification on the terminology about pack and play and travel crib.  I use those two terms interchangeably.  While the folks in the baby industry might have fine differences between the two, a travel crib and pack and play to me and most parents I know are the same thing.

The image of me trying to unfold the poles that make up the old pack and play are vivid.  It’s the button that you’re looking for in the middle that is somewhat hidden by the underside of that clip.  Find the button quickly that allows you to fold the pole in half and you feel like a Jedi master.  Mess around with it for too long and your children channel the spirit of a caffeinated Jar Jar Binks.

The Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light 2 is compact and only takes 2-3 minutes to put together or take down.  Inside the carrying case is the mattress and travel crib, 11 pounds of infant to toddler sleep paradise.  As parents to two boys we’ve used our pack and plays when we go on road trips or have take it to places where we didn’t know if they had a crib, like a friend’s place or park.

All you do is unpack the crib, fold it flat and pull out the legs.     Yes, but unpacking the crib is always the easiest part, isn’t it?  We were skeptical too until we took the Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light 2 down too.

The legs fit into a hole in each corner, just grasp the body of the crib and pull the leg up.  There is even an arrow on each leg reminding you to pull them up.  After that’s done push the joint on the side of the body of the crib, which will then allow it to fold.  That is it.

It’s light and super easy to put up or take down.   Its price point is around $270 may be higher than some folks are comfortable with.  Depending on where you are in the baby cycle and how much you use it will determine if it’s worth it for you.

If you’re new to baby products it’s important to factor in cost, comfort and convenience when purchasing.   You can purchase a pack and play for about $150 less.  The difference between those two is that the lower price point will weigh twice as much and be much more difficult to take down.

If you’ll be using the travel crib often (and haven’t mastered how to hold your mouth just right) then the time, convenience and ease of use makes the Baby Bjorn Travel Crib Light 2 an outstanding option. One way to decide what travel crib is right for you is to go to your baby supply store and test them out.  Put it up, take it down and figure out what works best for your family once all of the factors are considered.
