You know you’re in for some quality when a diaper bag is part of a collection. The Metra diaper bag from JJ Cole Collection is all quality, packed with pockets and has a long enough strap to easily slip over your head and around your shoulder. That’s the way cool dads wear the diaper bag. It looks like they’re a bike messenger except you’re delivering diapers, wipes or snacks for irritated small people.
The Metra Diaper Bag from JJ Cole is big. I took our largest children’s book, the ABC book from Brainy Baby, which is rectangular and larger than a magazine. It easily fit into all three of the subdivided sections inside the bag.
In the main compartment that large book fit with a couple of diapers, a big bag of wipes and still had space for lots of other things. With the other two compartments empty we put some snacks and keep the other one clean for work or things that I’m trying not to get ruined.
Clean is relative with a diaper bag isn’t it? Aside from the occasional used product that you might have to cart around, the diaper bag always seems to get dirty. Our problem is always a spilled sippy cup. You can put your sippy cup inside this diaper bag or put in the insulated bottle pocket on the side.
We’ve started putting the water bottles and sippy cups in the side and enjoy life much more. They don’t spill, they keep colder longer and there is zero chance of the condensation getting on diapers. Condensation is the best case, more likely in our other diaper bags we had lids pop off, tops not secure and the entire bottom of the bag getting soaked.
The other storage areas on the Metra diaper bag are two exterior zipped pockets on one side and a Velcro wallet organizer that is below one of them. There is a lot of storage space even before you get inside the ‘diaper bag’ itself. The changing pad that comes with the bag is big and wipes up easily.
There are two loops on the top of the bag that latch onto any stroller also. Just loop them over, like the rabbit going into the hole, and it’ll stay on your stroller.
The biggest asset of the Metra from the JJ Cole Collections is also its only shortcoming. It’s big. Big is not a bad thing, but some folks may not be looking for a diaper bag this large.
However, if you’re looking for a great quality diaper bag that has lots of pockets, is stylish without being flashy and is quite functional-this is it. The Metra is also unique in that I didn’t see anyone else with it in the two weeks that we tried the bag out. It’s not cutting edge fashion mind you, but it’s not the same bag that you see every other parent with. Another bonus is that it’s not too girly. It comes in a variety of colors, most of which are neutral and OK for dads to carry too.
